Hello All!
Glad I found a spot to sit and roost. Geeks and Nerds forum seems to be the best place fore me. . .
My issue is simple. . .I seem to have four major issues regarding my weight loss (had surgery 11/30/04)
1. Vitamins
2. Water
3. Protien
4. Excersise
Now, I hate taking the pills, hate the chewables more, but that's not the issue. . I can't seem to get ALL 4 done correctly in any given day. If I get all my protien in, I miss some of my water. If I get my excersise in, I forget to take my vitamens. I think I've spent about 20% of my daily mental capacity trying to get it all figured out. I've started keeping track of my water and protien in my PDA. . .I have a reminder that pops up three times a day to tell me to take my vitamins. . . and I go to the gym right after work. . .and still. . .
Please tell me to stop beating myself up. . .to do the best I can and eventually I will have that one day that everything clicks and I'll get it all done.
I'm losing lots of weight, feeling FAB, but still feel like a bit of a failure becuause I can't seem to manage all this at the same time.

Yes! Yes, I did have Reflux (GERD) before the surgery
.
That might be the cause. I'm also glad you mentioned you didn't want to eat or drink either. Because that's how I feel most of the time also, I barely have any appitite and I didn't know if that came with the suregery also. It's weird, the things I really want to eat are things that I know will be a while before the doctor will allow me to eat them (ex. corn, baked fish, seafood, apples) so since I can't have those things, I just don't feel like eating at all. I also hate not being able to drink as much liquid at one time as I want, like drinking a nice, big, cold glass of skim milk. The sipping thing is getting on my nerves, I'm always thristy. Have you had these same feelings, will they hopefully past??

I never had a bad taste in my mouth so I really can't help. I do know that the first few weeks after surgery everything tasted horrid and I didn't want to eat or drink. But now I'm good. Maybe it's just your tastebuds readjusting. Did you have acid reflux before?

HI !:
I'm a post-op (7/21/04), Lapro GB and a quasi-nerd. If anyone has any questions please let me know. I have one myself: Will the boiled egg taste that I have, even though I haven't eaten one, in my mouth ever go away?? Drinking Scope to cope?

Well hi there. I'm a post-op geek! I've been a little distracted lately with my geek pursuits (I'm up to my eyeballs in network cable wireless boxes. what heaven!), but I'm here...
Anyway, I had my surgery on May 7th and would be more than happy to provide any information requested, whether it's pre-op, operative or post-op.
It's not my nature to just belch forth with all sorts of information, unless someone wants it, so don't be shy. I pretty much live on the net, so I'm always lurking somewhere.

Well, I'm just glad someone was here!
I had Open RNY on April 30th and would gladly answer any questions you might have. I hope you have started your vitamins and protein drinks already. Trust me, it helps. I started a month before my surgery.
I took One Source womens vitamins from Wal Mart. Then I bought samples of all kinds of different protein drinks and drank at least 4 a day. My body was so prepared for surgery it was unbelievable. And I was healing so quick that my staples started to push themselves out before I even got out of the hospital!
What part of Pennsylvania are you in? I have relatives in Eldred (near Bradford) and Reynoldsville.
