Dealing with Tricare
Hi Stac,
As long as you are over 100 lbs overweight and/or have a BMI of 40 or above you shouldn't have any trouble. Everyone else that I know of hasn't had any trouble getting approved that I know of. I went from consult with PMC to surgery in about 6-8 weeks. That also depends on your surgeon too though.
When was your referral put in? Keep me post on how things go for you.
Shanon
I just got my approval from tricare, it took only 4 days. My problem was with the PCM so if you have gotten over that hurdle then I would say you are good to go. My surgery date is on April 3rd with Professor Weiner in Frankfurt and my husband will still be in Iraq. If anyone wants to chat with me or has any advice you can email me at [email protected] or IM me on Yahoo at sweetums272000.
Stac, which approval are you waiting for? I ask because according to the tricare rep I was with yesterday you need two seperate referrals.
First you have to recieve an approval to have the consult with the surgeon. It covers just one appointment with Dr Weiner. Then after he sees you he submits everything for the surgery approval for a set date. If the date gets changed for any reason you have to resubmit approval. This is according to the Tricare office in Vilseck, and I'm waiting for approval to see him for the first time. I will find out on Monday when I go meet with him assuming that it is approved.
