Have any of you found any good protien drinks/shakes that are carried in the Commissary or PX? Same for protien bars? Thanks! Becky

Protien shakes have been torture on me- even the protein water. The best think I have found so far is Muscle Milk-the already made shakes not the tub you make yourself. It has 23 g of protien and yes, is a bit thicker than I'd like, its still the only think I can drink without buckling over in pain! I feel like a jack@ss because I spent ALOT of money buying protein shakes in advance and I had to give it all away. If you find something else please let me know. Ugh I wish they made protien easy to take- like a pill

Dear Becky: Protein drinks that we like are a difficult thing to find, but not impossible. Our commissaries carry an already made protein drink in both vanilla and chocolate (I like the vanilla one) called Advant EDGE-carb control. It has 17 g of protein for 110 calories. They come in packages of 4 for some $5.00. It has zero sugar, that is an important thing to check when buying protein drinks or bars. They are usually by the Slim Fast drinks aile. I have tried the carb control Slim Fast and I am not a total fan of the chalkie taste, but it is another alternative. Make sure that it is the carb control, if not, it will have too much sugar! I use the AdvantEDGE on trips, or to take to work for breakfast, when I don't have time to do the powder protein drinks, etc. When I have gone to visit friends in Lakenheath, they also buy them for me for breakfast and I don't have to trouble anyone making me special food. I drink mine while they are eating their pancakes and their scones! It is quite filling and I like the taste. If the taste is ever a problem with protein drinks, try adding the DaVinci SUGAR FREE syrups that are found in our commissaries too. They are usually by the coffee aisle. We have caramel, vanilla, hazelnut, etc in Bitburg....so I imaging than in any other bigger store thay could even have more flavors!! My everyday breakfast includes a protein drink made from powder. I buy in the BX the Designer Whey- Vanilla flavor ($9. a container) and mix it with the Zero carb-Isopure Cappucino latte flavor that I get on line. It is soooo good!!! I sometimes add the syrups too (sugar free) to change the flavor of it. I buy many of the DaVici flavors on line, (praline, toasted marshmellow, macademian nuts, frech vanilla, dulce de leche, etc...) Hope this helps! Brenda
