HI- I had my surgery with Proff.Weiner on Aug 2. He is great!! My first appt. was pretty quick and he just asked about my health problems and my weight history. I also had a long questionare to answer. After that he made my appt for my surgery for one month later pending tricare approval. I was quite shocked that is was so easy.
I also never saw a dietician or psych. I guess it just depends on your PCM on what you have to do. As for the surgery, bring comfy pjs, a robe, and slippers (I used flip-flops). The first day is drinking a gallon of this stuff to clean you out, and trust me it will. Eat your favorite meal the day before . They will also do all the tests that day.
Surgery the second day. You will be in pain (not too bad) and very tired the first day after surgery. Bring your own water if your picky abou****er. They do have regular water which was fine for me but alot of other people didn't like it. Bring something to do for the last couple of days. I brought a book and a laptop. If you need a fan bring your own, they only had a few. I am sure there is more so if you have more questions you can email me [email protected]
Good luck!!
Michelle
You have nothing to worry about- Dr Weiner is top in his field, once listed as the fore father of the gastric, he even goes to the states to train surgeons on it. So you really are in good hands. My surgery has been a great success - I'm 6 months out and have almost hit the century mark. There is a lot you need to know prior to surgery that they wont tell you about- nothing major, just some basic info. Just let me know if you want details, I'll be sure to pass on the secrets to you- I was blessed to have had someone do the same for me.

Dear Terri:
Congratulations! I will be going to Dr. Weiner on Nov. 20th for my one year check up. I have lost 140 pounds and today I know that it was the best decision I have ever made. I was very nervous for my first appointmnet, and it really lasted just some 10-15 minutes. I came driving from Bitburg (also 2 hours away) but once I met him, all my nervousness wnt away. I came with a written list of questions for him and he answered them all. I will also recommend to bring your own pillow(s) for the surgery/hospital stay. Bottle water (I added Crystal Light) to mine for flavor is a very good idea to bring too. Bring towels, a bathrobe, a cell phone, and books or magazines. The people in th ehospital couldn't be any nicer!!! Good luck in your great new life!

Hi Terri!
I had my initial appointment with him on October 2nd and I go to have my surgery on the 22nd of this month. The appointment was pretty quick and it took me a little over 2 hours from Stuttgart. Prof. Weiner excpects you do have done some research and he will answer any questions you have. I have even e-mailed him some questions and he has been quick to respond to my e-mails.
I am so anxious to get the RNY!

Hello Ladies,
I want to start by saying congratulation to you all. It brought a smile to my face and calms my nerves reading all of your replies.
I have my 1st appointment with Dr. Weiner the end of March, which seems so far away.
He is completely booked! He is approx. 1 1/2 hrs away and I have thought about trying others that are closer but I constantly hear great things about Dr. Weiner and as we all know we can't scarifice our health for anything.
I have 2 friends/associates that have had the procedure done and both look so GREAT! 1 only spoke about in little detail and had hers done in Mannheim/Hdl area. She constanly spoke about psy. evals; but the friend had her procedure done with Dr. Weiner and this is how & why I decided to go with him.
I have running several questions through my mind and I guess it's time to put them all on paper (most have been answered by the glorious world wide web).
The 31st seems so far away and every time I think of it I get gittery. I have always been a gym person (even though I don't quite look it) and the beginning of each year I start what I call my Madd-Woman-Diet. Which consists of phen, coffee, water-pills, water and starving (better known as portion reduction). Well I just realized I'm standing on my soap box and will gladly remove myself :chair:.
Any information that anyone can share prior to my 1st appt. would be greatly appreciated.
Again, congrad to you all
I just wanted to say Congrats on starting your journey. I live in Stuttgart so I ended up going to Prof Hesse here for my surgery. I have heard wonderful things about Dr. Weiner though so I would not be nervous at all I would have gone to him as well had Prof Hesse not been so close and just as qualified. I am now 6 weeks out and would not change anything. I would see about finding a protein suppemnt/drink you can tolerate that was my biggest issue still is really..lol.. feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions i might be able to answer.
Terri
