I'm just kidding, but are you sure the nurses playing around wasn't just a side effect of the pain meds . I am glad all of your nurses were good. I did not share your positive experience. The nurses I had after surgery were awful and didn't give a rip that I was puking every time I had to take a sip of water. I had a very mad pouch after surgery and it was swollen so much nothing could pass. And they refused to give me IV fluids so I eventually got really dehydrated from the lack of fluids and vomiting. Had to check myself out of Sachsenhausen and get to a local hospital up here and make them give me fluids. Needless to say I spent an additional 14 days in Eschenbach in the hospital being rehydrated. Glad to hear you are doing well. Eventually the pain will subside and you will be comfortable in your bed once again, Take care... Daisy

Topic: RE: WLS Support Group Tonight! 2/21 5:30 Pm
As far as I know, a few post surgery folks got together with one of the docs at the clinic and thought it would be a good idea. I went and it was fun, kind of social get together to ask questions and see how everyone is doing. Ours here seems to be veryinformal and a friendsly bunch. No one really needs to give you permission to start a support group. But I would start by talking to one of the docs and see if they would be up for sponsoring it and putting the info out. They put flyers in the clinic and the PA's encourage us post ops to attend to lend and get support. Good luck... Daisy

Hi Daisy, How do you go about getting a support group together? I would love to have one here. I'm in Bamberg and Graf is too far to drive for a meeting. Do you know who I can contact to see if we can get that started here? Thanks! Tammy

Topic: Hello All I'm Home!
I got home on the 20th, and boy was it good to lay in my own bed. Those beds at the Krankenhaus should be in a torture museum. I don't sleep very well at night as I just can't seem to get comfortable no matter what position I'm in. I have lost 13 lbs since surgery and can already see physical differences. I'm already sick of this liquid diet and have a HUGE craving for scrambled eggs. But I must be patient, something I have never mastered well. My nurses were WONDERFUL! The only bad experience I had was in ICU. The day nurses were all young and I thought I was in a dormatory, as they were chasing each other down the hall, yelling, screaming, laughing so loud like it was a party. They kept running in and out of my room being very noisy from just playing around. At one point I opened my eyes and saw 3 nurses snapping rubber gloves at each other right at the foot of my bed. I could not believe the unprofessionalism and lack of concern for all the patients in the ICU. I just kept hitting my pain med button so I could go to sleep and not keep hearing the ruckus. But other than that everything else was great. The nurses on the Ward were so caring and sweet.

Topic: RE: Help! 1st Appointment Dr Weiner
I just wanted to say Congrats on starting your journey. I live in Stuttgart so I ended up going to Prof Hesse here for my surgery. I have heard wonderful things about Dr. Weiner though so I would not be nervous at all I would have gone to him as well had Prof Hesse not been so close and just as qualified. I am now 6 weeks out and would not change anything. I would see about finding a protein suppemnt/drink you can tolerate that was my biggest issue still is really..lol.. feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions i might be able to answer. Terri

Topic: RE: Help! 1st Appointment Dr Weiner
Hello Ladies, I want to start by saying congratulation to you all. It brought a smile to my face and calms my nerves reading all of your replies. I have my 1st appointment with Dr. Weiner the end of March, which seems so far away. He is completely booked! He is approx. 1 1/2 hrs away and I have thought about trying others that are closer but I constantly hear great things about Dr. Weiner and as we all know we can't scarifice our health for anything. I have 2 friends/associates that have had the procedure done and both look so GREAT! 1 only spoke about in little detail and had hers done in Mannheim/Hdl area. She constanly spoke about psy. evals; but the friend had her procedure done with Dr. Weiner and this is how & why I decided to go with him. I have running several questions through my mind and I guess it's time to put them all on paper (most have been answered by the glorious world wide web). The 31st seems so far away and every time I think of it I get gittery. I have always been a gym person (even though I don't quite look it) and the beginning of each year I start what I call my Madd-Woman-Diet. Which consists of phen, coffee, water-pills, water and starving (better known as portion reduction). Well I just realized I'm standing on my soap box and will gladly remove myself :chair:. Any information that anyone can share prior to my 1st appt. would be greatly appreciated. Again, congrad to you all
