Topic: RE: what to take?
First, CONGRATS!!!!
German hospitals....bring your own towels, soap , toiletries and a night shirt because they make you wear those stockings to avoid blood clots in the legs. Also, bring a portable DVD player or laptop computer because the only channel that is in English is BBC. I also brought my own pillow. Make sure you have sweats or some very lose fitting pants, those incisicions are TENDER! Oh, a big thing is to make sure you get there EARLY so you can get your room early and make them give you the liquid colonic as early as possible. I got mine at 3pm and was up until about 11. Oh and bring baby wipes because after awhile toilet paper is NOT your friend. I also brough****er with me because I heard rumors about the liquid colonic, you really need to make sure you have something to wa**** down because its decieving. It smells like juice or something but tastes like sweaty socks, black liquorice and rocks the devil delivered him self from hell. Sorry for being so detailed but just preparing you so there are no surprises. I am pretty sure I emailed you all of this before but there is nothing wrong with touching base with you again. I only wish I had known as much.
Hmmm, oh yeah. The day you get to your room walk walk walk. That is really going to help you with the air in your tummy. They fill it with air to be able to reach everything and for the next few days you have these air pockets that are the worst if not taken care of. But I walked as much as I could and it made it so much better! If I remember anything else I will let you know. If you want, email me and I will give you my number if you have any questions. My email addy is [email protected]. Take care Terri and don't hesitate to ask me anything at all-seriously ANYTHING.

Topic: RE: Approved!
I am so happy for you Terri! Remember I am here if you need anything.
I spent last week in the hospital in Bobelingen because I have an infection in my colon, but I am home again and back on the road to recovery!
Topic: RE: Approved!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
How are you feeling about everything? I have my first appt. with Prof. Weiner tomorrow and I'm pretty nervous.
Good luck, not that you'll need it!

woohoo im getting there!
Topic: Just some info and advise not trying to change minds.
First off let me start by saying i had my surgery on the 29th of November so I am not trying to change minds.
Here is my take, The wait in the states is less than a month. You still have to take all the classes. You still have to get Tri Care approval. However the follow up in the states is so much better. So if you are nearing your return date please consider waiting until you get back. I have had surgery both in Germany and here and I am way happier here. So If you are coming to Fort Campbell Wait!!!!!! Dr Sanborn and Dr Smith are so worth it.
Here is my Time Line:
We arrived from Germany Sept 27th 2007
PCP Appointment Oct 16th 2007
1ST Surgeons Appointment Nov 4th 2007
Surgery November 29th 2007
I am in my 3rd week post op and I feel wonderful.
