Topic: RE: Sleeve Gastrectomy?
I think Professor Weiner in Frankfurt does the surgery, he is an excellent surgeon, I don't know what the cost is though. I also know there is a surgeon in Leon, France but am not sure of the name. You can get more information through www.europeanmedicaltourist.com, best of luck!

Topic: RE: How do I get a referral?
Hello, You have to get your referral from your PCM. Finding a PCM that is understanding and doesn't look down on WLS was the biggest challenge for me. There is a piece of paper your PCM has to fill out for Tricare and then Tricare processes it and sets you up with a consult appt. with a surgeon. The only surgery that Tricare covers is RNY and they will pay ALL of it. Personaly I would recomend Professor Rudolf Weiner in Frankfurt, he is the #3 surgeon in the world for this surgery and had pioneered many of the techniqes used all over the world including the U.S., it may be a bit far for you to drive but you can be assured that he is well worth it, and the hospital he practices out of is top-notch. If you have anymore questions about what Tricare requires or my experiences or anything feel free to ask me any questions you like. I just had my surgery on the 4th so I am still learning too. You can email me at [email protected] or find me on Yahoo! messenger with the i.d. sweetums272000. Sincerely, Hope

Topic: How do I get a referral?
My husband is stationed here in Baumholder. We've been here since November. Can someone tell me how I get a referral? What portion of the cost does Tricare pay for? I would appreciate any advice or suggestions, etc.

Thanks Cheri! I live in Wiesbaden now- Hainerberg area. We got here at the end of November. My hubby is stationed in Dexheim but I didn't want to live there!!! I go into the hospital this Thursday and have the RNY on Friday the 20th. The hospital is in Frankfurt. And they keep you in the hospital for 5-7 days. I am SO going to have cabin fever- I already get it sitting around the house all day lol. I really appreciate you reaching out. I will keep in touch and let you know how things go. I am very nervous because I know my life is about to seriously change. I hope it doesnt take long to adjust. Thanks again.

When do you go into the hospital? I have only been here since the end of Sept so lots of adjusting!! LOL Where are you guys stationed at? Please let me know how you are doing and dont hesistate to get in touch if you need support, encouragement or just a shoulder. The first few weeks are pretty tough and sometimes you just need to talk to someone who has been there. Take care and keep me posted! Cheri

One more week! Tricare drama is done and I go in next Thursday and have my surgery on Friday the 20th. I wasn't fortunate enough to meet Professor Weiner personally bc of some scheduling conflicts but I will next week. Meanwhile I am a bundle of nerves!!! And whats worse is me and my husband STILL don't know how to find the hospital in Frankfurt. UGH But we are going to go out there this Sunday and see if we can get there on our own- last time we went someone else took us and it's harder when you aren't driving it yourself. Well time to do my happy dance- the new me will be here soon ~Stacie~
