Has anyone here had the sleeve in Germany? Can you tell me your experience? Surgeon? Cost? I live in Norway, and I am looking to have it done in Mexico right now, but it may be easier to do it in Europe, closer to my family. Thanks! Angela

Stac, which approval are you waiting for? I ask because according to the tricare rep I was with yesterday you need two seperate referrals. First you have to recieve an approval to have the consult with the surgeon. It covers just one appointment with Dr Weiner. Then after he sees you he submits everything for the surgery approval for a set date. If the date gets changed for any reason you have to resubmit approval. This is according to the Tricare office in Vilseck, and I'm waiting for approval to see him for the first time. I will find out on Monday when I go meet with him assuming that it is approved.

I have not heard of him, but I am in a different area. My surgery is with Professor Weiner and I know he is one of the best surgeons in the world and has pioneered many of the techniques used by doctors worldwide. Just be sure and ask him questions like what his mortality rate is and what his infection rate is (it should be under 3%) and if you feel uncomfortable in ANY way let TriCare or whoever your insurance is and ask to be referred elsewhere. It's your surgery and your body so don't feel like you have to go somewhere you are uncomfortable. -Hope

hello i think his name is dr weiner? spelling may be off i have just read that tricare has a preferred provider dr hesse in stuttgart i have not been able to locate any information on him, do you get a choice of who to see or do you just get referred to the closest dr? any info would be great i will be there in sept. and plan to get this ball rolling as soon as we have our house set up
