Topic: RE: Question from the USA=RNY still done in Germany?
Hi Linda, I'm doing great....I'm 2 weeks post op and have lost 15lbs so far. I'm sick with a cold right now which is hard because the cold medicine has sugar in it and it makes me sick. I have an appt. today with my primary care doctor to see if he can help me. I have been doing so much coughing that my insides are so sore right now. The surgery went well...my doctor said that I was a good patient other then when he went to take out my gallbladder he had some problems. It was 4 times the size it should have been and loaded with gallstones..(I had about 300 of them he said). Are you still going to have the surgery? I tell everyone I know that it was good but the first 2 days are the worst....after that it was a walk in the park. I'm still trying foods to see what agrees and what doesn't. It was great to hear from you and keep in touch okay..Take care!!! Marie

Hi, I live near Ramstein and I go through RTT Travel on post. They have a lot of great trips, anywhere from one day express trips to overnight trips that last several days. I am going on a tour of Bavaria when my family comes to visit in March. I have been before and loved the area so I want my guests to see it too! Another trip that I really want to do is one to Holland when the tulips bloom. Were you looking for things do on your own or things like this that include a tour guide? The weather has been great, no snow and lately it has been in the upper 50's. Good luck and have a safe trip. Shanon

I will be in Germany March 1st to April 7th and I am going to be at Ramstein Air Base (that's about 1.5hr from Frankfurt) for the most part but I do want to see all the country has to offer. Can someone tell me where to go and what to see? Also what's the weather been like? Thank for any help you can give...

Topic: RE: Dealing with Tricare
Hi Stac, As long as you are over 100 lbs overweight and/or have a BMI of 40 or above you shouldn't have any trouble. Everyone else that I know of hasn't had any trouble getting approved that I know of. I went from consult with PMC to surgery in about 6-8 weeks. That also depends on your surgeon too though. When was your referral put in? Keep me post on how things go for you. Shanon

Has anyone in here had to wait for tricare after you submit your referral? Do they ever turn anyone down? I'm just curious because I am waiting now for tricare to approve ther referral my doctor gave me. Thanks - Stac

Topic: RE: What to see in Germany?
http://www.castles.org/castles/Europe/Central_Europe/Germany/germany7.htm The Neuschwanstein Castle is probably the most amazing castle you could ever see. This is the castle that Walt Disney copies for Cinderalla's Castle. The link above will give you some pics. It is a must see! Definitely try and take a Rhine River cruise. They are fabulous and pretty inexpensive as well. Hope you are having a great time cheri

Topic: RE: Hello from Heidelberg, Germany
Hi Lynnell: Just stumbled onto you post and thought I would see how you are getting along. I had RNY 6/03 and have done really well with just some minor anemia. We recently found out that we are expecting a baby in Oct. BIG surprise!! So, this is my first pregnancy after RNY, so it will be interesting to say the least. Hope you are doing well. Take care Cheri

Topic: RE: Germany bound Sept 2007
Hi: I am an Army wife, stationed in Wiesbaden. I had my surgery almost 4 years ago in the states, but I know that WLS is done in Frankfurt and I also believe in Landstuhl. Read some of the other posts on the German forum and you will get lots more info. The referral process will not be any different than in the states. Once you get here and get assigned a pc doc, you can discuss it and ask for a referral from Tricare. Have you been stationed in Germany before? We love it here, it is a beautiful country with so much to do and see. Feel free to email me with any questions you have either about WLS or Germany. Good luck Cheri
