I have my initial appt. with him on 14 April. I am neverous and excited at the same time. I went to his website and printed them and filled out the forms. Does having consultation mean having the procedure or how does that work. Does Tricare turn you down if the Dr. feels you need it? I just don't want to get my hopes up to have the rug yanked out. Also how long after the appt. is surgery schedule? Anything else I need for the initial appt? I want to have this WLS I am afraid to hope until I have a surgery date. Thanks Neala

I met Dr. Schang today at Mannheims University hospital. He is the new tricare Dr. They are no longer using Dr Schulz and so now the choices are between Dr Schang in Mannheim or Dr Weiner in Frankfurt. I have to say I really did like Dr Schang and he had plenty to say. He seems very excited to be adding Americans to his practice, and I'm the first one. He has been doing gastric bypass for seven years at Mannheim and he studied for a while in New York with one of The best Dr's in the U.S. He said he has done over 400 surgeries and never had a mortality. I'm quite confident in him and everyone there was very friendly. My date for surgery is April 28th, and I have to go back in this week for an endescope, he says he does it with all of his patients. If anyone has any questions about him, let me know

I do not know anything about Dr. Schang, but I would choose Dr. Weiner over and over and over and over AND over again Good luck to ya! Angie

I am not with Tricare but I had my appt. on 31 Mar with Dr. Weiner in Frankfurt.

Got a call from tricare today saying they have stopped using Dr Schulz, they didn't say why. I had already seen him and was awaiting surgery with him, so now I have to go back through the process again and wait to see another Dr. They gave me a choice betwankeen Dr Schang in Mannheim or Dr Weiner in Frankfurt. I have an appt with the Dr in Mannheim on Monday so If anyone knows anything about him, let me know that would be great.
