Motorcycle Riding?
D J,
It's best to check what your surgeon's protocol is for when you can ride after surgery. I asked mine at my first post op follow-up which was less than a week after surgery and was told to give it another week, so in less than two weeks I was bombing around town on short rides; not as a passenger though, as the pilot. I got tired quickly for about the first month after surgery so gradually worked up to longer runs. I am 3 1/2 months out now and take 500-600 mile weekend trips.
One other thing, now that I've lost almost 100 pounds, my Heritage feels like it has so much more power, like it's been bored, stroked and had a hot cam installed in since it doesn't have to lug all that extra weight around now. For that matter, powerwise, I feel the same way but I actually had a major rebuild!

Hope all went well with your surgery. I am scheduled for surgery 10/19/04, and will be asking the same question. I can't wait to get back on my Softail and ride (with a new thinner me.) I scheduled my surgery in October so it would not interfere with a ride to Reno for Street Vibrations that I just returned from. Good Luck with your recovery.

I had my surgery 3/15/04 with some problems afterward not surgery related but it slowed my healing down. I had open RNY, 3/4 of my stomach removed completely, appendix removed and gall bladder removed so it took a little longer to heal. I was back to piloting long hauls on my 2003 Fatboy to go to the Myrtle Beach Spring Rally in May, it was a little rough but I did ride the entire trip. Now I can ride with my hubby, which hasn't happened in years that is really fun, still like riding my own better. I hope your surgery went well.
