Topic: RE: plus sized riding clothes
Hi Stacie! There are a few brands right now making TERRIFIC plus size britches. I haven't gone looking for tall boots or show shirts and coats yet. Irideon makes a plus size riding pant that's excellent ( Ihave a pair)., the Equus XL fleece lined winter breech is SO nice and warm and stretchy! I don't carry too much weight in my calves so I ride in ariat XL half chaps just fine- try them! EQ makes nice breeches, but I haven't tried them, same with Kerrits, and Boink. Let me know how it goes!

Topic: RE: Who has dogs? How big? How small?
Hi Stacie, Best place for plus sized riding clothes at reasonable prices, you guessed it....EBAY! But there is a company out there called 1824 that specializes in plus sized riding clothes. The prices were not that bad last time I checked, but that was like 4 years ago, and now I have no need to order from there. Ok took a while but I found it http://www.equestriancollections.com/eq/listProducts.do?&departmentId=x&collectionId=1&pag e=1 Also I know Dover Saddlery also carries plus sizes. Hope this helps, Nicole

Topic: plus sized riding clothes
I'm happy to find this message board! I'm scheduled to have LapBand surgery on June 5th and I'm already fantasizing about being a great rider once again! It will be quite some time still before my boots fit (I've kept them for years) and I didn't keep any clothes. Does anyone out there know where I could go for plus sized riding clothes and/or boots? It's also got to be a source that is reasonably priced since I won't have the clothes but for maybe one season. I will be taking some back to basics lessons on a draught cross (drassage) gelding and can just go in jeans and my half boots, but I already know I'm going to want to compete at low levels as soon as possible. Thank you, Stacie

Topic: Country Music
I love listening to country music right before I go riding. It adds more of a western effect. I just learned about this new country dvd called Nashville Sound. My boss at umvd knows how I love country music so she told me about this. It is a concert from the 70s that has some of country's legendary performers, like Johnny Cash and Loretta Lynn!!! Has anyone else heard about it?? I think I'm going onto amazon.com to buy it.

Topic: RE: I can't wait to RIDE again!
I am getting ready to have surgery on March 9th. I currently own 5 horses. Two of them are my show horses. I showed last year but someone had videotaped me riding and it was disgusting so I am not showing until I can look good doing it. I have a beautiful paint mare and buckskin mare. Both are shown in Western Pleasure and are awesome to ride. I am taking this show season off and having a young girl ride my buckskin. I am buying an outfit in medium and going to work my butt off literally for next year. Kathy in Delaware

Topic: RE: At What Weight Would I Not Get Hassled?
hey girls and guys, I did not expect to find a link with rny and horse back riding! I too am planning on wls to get me down to a reasonable weight to ride. I hope to by my own horses this spring after surgery. Nice to know that grooming and riding will be good exercise. it is so much more fun than walking or going to the gym. ttfn shell

Topic: RE: Hey riders- wanna schedule a ride?
Hey Dawna, I would love to do something like this. I've never been to a dude ranch before. I haven't been on a horse since I was about 175 lbs. At 255, I don't want to hurt any horse. I have no idea how much weight they can carry, but I imagine it's a lot. Anyway, I know you posted this message over a month ago, but I am interested.

I have wanted to take my nonriding husband to a dude ranch, cattle drive or something like this for a while. I roade my quarter horse at 235 pounds. My neighbor used to yell at me "animal cruelty" when i came down the road. Minnie, my mare died last december. I am now about 150 lbs and have another mare who belongs to my daughter. i haven't rode for over 6 months. Wouldn't you love to get a group together to a ranch - al WLS families- and do a few days of riding?

Topic: RE: Lipizzaner Stallions & Spanish Riding School of Vienna
Hey Karen... I saw the Lipizzaner show for the second time about a year ago. I have some pictures from it that I will upload and share. If you ever get a chance to see the show Cavalia (http://www.cavalia.net), I highly recommend it. They have beautiful Andalusian and Lusitano stallions and acrobatics. If you like Cirque de Soliel, it's like a cross between that and the Spanish Riding School show. They are showing in Washington, DC right now I believe. I see that I'm a little late in posting a reply, so I hope you had a wonderful time! You being a horse lover like me, I'm sure you probably did!

I actually adopted my PMU filly from Sleipnir right before they changed to Prism! It's a WONDERFUL organization and everyone thinks my filly Juliet (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v64/skc515/Juliet/JULIET.jpg) is awesome and should be the mascot for PMU adoption.
