Gypsy Vanner Horses
Has anyone seen these horses in action ?
i have seen a lot of press on them , and i keep hearing diffrent things, one is that they are draft only horses, and others that they are light weight draft horses suitable for riding ...
i would love to find out more about them , i have always owned and bred paint horses(Grass Dancer was my last Stallion) and the feathering on these is just gorgeous !!!
i have always thought clydesdales were so flashy with thier featherd fetlocks, and the vanners , or drum horses are even more heavily feathered, i just wanted some kind of first hand info from someone who has had experience with them
thanks
Beth

They are a light draft type horse, suitable for riding. I had looked in to purchasing one a year or so ago, but they are way, way out of my price range! Average pricing then was about $12,000. They are still fairly rare in the US, so they are still importing alot of these animals, but they are so beautiful!

i have seen them now for around 3-5k , which is still kind of pricy , i was toying with the idea of having a big paint mare inseminated from a nice stud , sicne thats only 1000
i know there are a lot of them in florida, i figure by the time i am ready to seriously look at them , the prices will be down a bit more
i dont believe in spending that much for a green horse,
now, 3-5 k for a dead solid broke horse, then thats a different story

Hi!
I am new here, just starting my journey! Looks like I will be having my surgery sometime this summer.
Anyway, we have Gypsy Vanner 2 yr old stud colt, we will be standing soon. If you are interested let me know!
I also own an approved Friesian stallion named Dante, he is truly the love of my life (don't let me husband know that)

Hi! I'm new to this site, But I too am a horse lover. You can go to Drafthorsestuff.com and on the lower left theres a link to draft horses being sold click on Gypsy Vanner, Or Gypsyvanner.com. I met the man that brought the G.V. here to the U.S. he lives in Ocala Florida. They are beautiful animals they are stocky like the draft but they are not as tall. He told us they were bred by the gypsys to be very gentle, They used their horses to pull wagons, and they were bred to be gentle to be around the kids and families. They are very expensive. They are doing embrio transplants though. I myself have draft mares Percherons, I don't know if I'll ever be able to go back to a horse, My girls are not trained yet we are working with them. and they are just my speed, They are sooo level headed for being babies 2 and a half. I also learned that draft horses grow till they are 6 years. They have yet to spook at hardly anything. It has to be the breed. I've never seen horses so calm in my life. At my age (44) thats a plus. Because I too have gotten back into my horses in the past 5 years. And it feels so good.
