Hi Lorri, I bought him at an auction, and really didn't get much info except that he is vaccinated. I need to get with the guy I bought him from to get more info. I am not too interested in his bloodlines, he is a champion in my book, he is a gentle heart. Jeannie

Hi Anita, Welcome to the OH! What brings you to San Clemente? Its really pretty there. I used to live in the Chino/Ontario Area before moving to Northern California. I love it here. Hope everything is okay in Florida with your horses. What do you currently have (horses), I have an Arabian Gelding and an Appy Gelding. I love my boys. Totally different personalities...the Arab, flashy, bossy and generally a good boy. My Appy is kind, loving, a real sweetheart. Hope you are having a great time in California. p.s. try the California Messageboard, its hopping...... Jeannie

YAY DEB!! I'm hoping for a little bit of nice weather to get a ride or two in on Mr. Joe-Man. My new saddle has been Lexol'ed to within an inch of its life, I'll rub the carving out of it if I don't leave it alone! Lorri

Topic: Back in the saddle again...again
Finally, 12 weeks after breaking my arm and 9 weeks after surgery to plate/screw it back together, I got on a horse again yesterday. I was just this side of terrified (not sure which side this side is...) Even though this is far from my first broken bone from riding, getting back on this time was much harder. Riding again after my RNY wasn't anywhere near this scary, even though I was off for a similar length of time. Maybe I'm just getting old. Oakie, a very nice old school horse, was very kind to me, as was my very patient trainer. Within 20 minutes we were trotting circles and working on walk/trot/halt transitions. Good school horses are absolutely worth their weight in gold. Even though I was almost rigid in fear when I started, he stayed relaxed and did his job. He is quite fluent in English, expecially when the trainer uses the words "walk" or "halt", so all I had to do was put the leg on to get the trot and remember to sit back for those downward transitions. It's going to take some time (and a lot of time in 2-point and without stirrups) to get my leg back, but at least I'm past the hardest part. I have a new mare to try as soon as I'm riding well enough to concentrate on her and not what I'm doing. She showed well this past weekend, and was very calm in the midst of chaos, so I'm really looking forward to it. She's a beautiful, delicate looking thoroughbred, and we're hoping that she's the right one to replace my big, spooky, and too powerful (for me) warmblood. It feels good to be back. Hi Lorri! Your critters are drop dead gorgeous! How wonderful that you are fulfilling your dreams. What fun you will have once the weight starts coming off and you are able to ride like you know you can. There is nothing like the love of a horse, and few things in life that loving on a horse can't make better. I know that during my worse times, just getting up in the stall with my mare and breathing in that wonderful horsie scent makes me feel much better, and somehow all is right with the world. Best of luck with your surgery, Deb
