Harriet???
My email to her dated 4/27 is still marked as "Unread". I haven't tried to contact her since then.
I need to vent....hope you don't mind too much....
I had a sleep apnea test on April 30 and it took Apria almost a week to pick it up. Dr. Chuang ordered me onto CPAP on May 10th and I still haven't gotten an appointment from them. I'm really frustrated. I left three messages that were not returned, then today I happened to get the live scheduler on the phone, Jane, who wanted me to come to Redmond to pick it up. When I told her that I noticed there was a Fife location that would be lots more convenient for me, she said no problem and that they would call me this afternoon for a time. Still no word...I gave them 3 contact Ph#'s. GEEZ!
Has anyone else had problems like this? Also, does GHC pay 100% for the equipment?
AND...I've been battling a bad cold/lung infection/asthma. Been on antibiotics and Prednisone for two weeks which always makes me gain weight.
I'm starting to feel better now and will try really hard to lose the weight gain before 6/3. I was really happy with myself that I had not gained any between my approval date and the end of April, but now I'm really unhappy and feel like a big blob! This is my highest weight ever!
Mari

Sorry you are having a time with Apria. I guess I should feel lucky that the office up here in Bellingham got me in right away. They were great as a matter of fact. And yes, after 3 months on the CPAP, GHC will cover it 100%. You don't have to put any money out. After 3 months, you will receive a letter. The doctor that ordered the CPAP will have to send in a letter or Apria will contact them to see if you are doing well with the machine. It's really easy. My husband and I both got on a CPAP at the same time and have since had it paid for completely. I would just keep calling them if you can. And as for the weight gain, you DO have an excuse. That prednisone is hell. I have two members of my family that have taken it and gained weight. I am sure when you explain that to Dr. Bock or Harriet it will be fine. Just think, in a few months you won't even have to worry about it!!! I too am at my highest weight ever. I gained 30 lbs since this time last year. Depressing. But we will only be fat one more summer my dear and then it's all over. I know we will succeed with this surgery and be happy and healthy once again!!! Next summer, LOOK OUT!!! Hugs to you Mari. Looking forward to meeting you finally!!!
Take care,
Lori
