Topic: Hi all!
Thanks for posting the notice about this site on the Washington board - never would have found it otherwise! I had surgery on November 8, 2004 with Dr. Au. I orginally was assigned to Dr. Bock, but found out that I would get the surgery faster if I switched to Dr. Au. He was great. Really sweet, very competent, and my follow-up care has been excellent (I've had some complications). I still had to wait about 8 months to get the surgery, so there is a whole lot of patience needed for surgery with GHC. For many months, I heard NOTHING. Don't worry - no one has forgotten you. I was fortunate to get called when there was a cancellation, so I was bumped up even more because my schedule was flexible. If you're really worried, let Harriet know that you are willing to switch surgeons or take a cancellation if you can. Harriet is really sweet, but sooo busy. I recommend contacting her using the secure messaging feature on the Group Health Web site (ghc.org). She responded to me just the other day within a couple of hours. Well, thanks again for setting up this board. It's so great to talk to people who are really going through the same process. Best, Tish

Can anyone tell me where the support group meeting closest to Whatcom County would be? I am thinking it might be Everett but I am not sure... Thanks! Lori

Pastor Hitch**** (now that I know his name) was very kind to my mother when she had a bad accident last summer. He visited her while she was hospitalized at Madigan. I think he was there when the ambulance came on the day of the accident. She fell off a ladder while painting the window trim and hit her head on the driveway. She had a severe brain injury and hasn't been quite the same since , but she's alive and for the most part she's still herself. My parents live on the side of the outdoor staircase. If you looked out the door at the top of that staircase, you would be looking directly at their house. We/they have lived in that house for 30 years. They are used to the noise. I remember when I was younger and completely rebelious, I would play my car stereo really loud while I was washing/detailing my car with absolutely no respect for the church. It was like having a noise war. That camper I'm talking about is in the back of the church about where the two property lines meet. So I guess he's just going to scoot it over to their side since somebody has asked him to move. Noonish on Tuesday is OK and I already checked with Mom too. I'm looking forward to seeing you again and meeting your grandson. Love Diana

Small World INDEED!!! The Church has an interim Pastor because Pastor Hitch**** resigned so he could go back to South Africa. There is a motor home parked at the side of the church but I have no idea whose it is. Do your parents live directly behind the church or off to the right? I hope they are not upset with the loud Praise & Worship... some of the neighbors are. We do try to keep it down after 10pm and P&W is usually over by 8-8:30, if he is hearing the service, I don't think that can be helped... thin walls and lots of windows. Noonish when? Next Tuesday? You will get a call from the Social Worker to set up an appointment for either a phone interview or in person. Since I live so far away, I did it over the phone. I filled out the same form you did. It took about 2 weeks for me to get a call after I sent it in. I made the appt for the next morning. Over and done just like that. When did you send in your paperwork? Lori

I'm wondering about the psych eval. What did you do? All I had to do was fill out a 2-3 page form and send it to a social worker. It was about my moods, history, and if and who are my support system. I haven't been told about seeing anyone. Hmmm..... Mari

We are getting this board going now! It's nice to see people coming out of the woodwork! We are all here to support each other. It really helps to hear everyone's side to this Group Health story. I truly believe that what we talk about WILL help someone in some way. Let's keep it up peeps! Lori
