Actually you probably won't have that long of a wait to get approved. It took me 30 days after appealing to get approved. I was originally denied because of the 6-months of supervised dieting. As long as you meet the criteria, you will be approved. But.... the wait will be with the surgery date. You can expect to wait a while for that. I was told 8-10 months but I also heard 1 year. Just depends on how fast the doc can get us all through I guess. Sounds kinda like an assembly line! Good Luck to you on your journey! Have you checked out the "Your Journey" section on this website? It is very informative. Find it at the top right after the "main entrance" link.
Take care,
Lori

Hi Mari!
Sounds like we are really close in time frames. Maybe we will get to meet at the same orientation! Unfortunately I live way too far from Tacoma to come to a meeting. I am way up north near the canadian border. Have you had your psych eval yet? That was a piece of cake. I was a little apprehensive about it. My tests all came back normal so it's just a matter of time now. I am terrible at waiting. But, I guess I don't have a choice. Once we get an orientation date, we can expect to get a surgery date that is about 2 months after that. At least that is what I have been told. I am in the same boat as you with the insurance. I HAVE to have the surgery before October 1. Good luck with the pulmonary doc. Hope we get dates soon!!!

I totally understand about keeping house. I've been a whole lot better since dropping so much weight.
You know that saying, "It's a small world?" How 'bout this ... The church you go to is right next door to my parents' house. In fact, my dad jokingly says he doesn't need to go to church because he can just stand outside and listen to them next door.
Did you recently get a new pastor? There's a man who's living in a small trailer in the back who has been asked to move so my parents have offered to let him park his trailer on their property and in exchange he has been doing some yard work for them. To be honest, I wasn't too thrilled when I first saw his trailer parked so close to their property, but it looks like he might be an OK guy. I always worry about them and they've had problems with theft in the past.
It really is a small world isn't it? So it may be easier to meet at my parents' house, even though I only live a few minutes away. They're in the brick house with the long driveway. How about noonish and we'll have lunch and bring your grandson. Jake is about 25 pounds. I'm not sure how tall (short). He's very small too.
Please don't worry about ironing.

Hi Lori. I just read your profile.
I'll have to do more with mine. If you live in the Tacoma area, I hope you can make it to the support group meeting on the 4th Tuesday of the month-6:30 pm at GHC. My first time was last month and I learned a lot.
I saw my Dr. on Feb. 7. I came prepared and even wrote a letter explaining my lifetime efforts to lose weight and my health problems. I had a copy of my 6-months at Weigh****chers. I felt like such a failure as the Dr. interviewed me. My Dr. didn't know there was a specific form that he needed to fill out. It was thanks to a great nurse who started the referal while I was there standing at the nurses station! I told her the Bariatric center was in Redmond, she called them and they told her about the special form and then faxed it to her. I stayed and made sure it was received, filled out by the Dr., and sent. She was so nice and wished me luck. (I did apply a year ago, but that is another story for my website. lol)
I got an approval Feb. 18! I talked to Harriet on March 14, got my packet right away and did all the tests. I am about where you are, finished with tests (except the Pulmonary Dr. at the end of the month) and waiting for an orientation date. I'm just waiting to hear if my tests are ok and what the next step will be.
Geez! it is 3 am. Going to bed. Mari

Hi Diana!
Wesley is 4 years old and your little Jake probably out wieghs him... he is tiny at 37 inches tall and 26 lbs. He lost wieght while they were in calif. for 2 weeks! ...sigh... I am trying to lose wieght and all of us are trying to keep wieght on Wess!
You may know the church we rent down in Parkland then... Parkland revival Center... We rent it through the week and the church has it for the weekend. It is at 620 134th St. Behind the Saar's market on Pacific.
I would be glad to come to your place, to be quite honest, I have been unable to keep my house up in the last year or so, too fat to bend and work the hours needed to keep things clean enough for company.
I keep the living room and kitchen clean enough to live in and Wesley's room clean enough to play in but... I am embarassed by the stuff I can no longer get to. And when the girls moved out in Feb they left a mess upstairs and down that is just beyond me.
You name when and I will bring my stuff over, I want to try to iron some of it so it looks nice.

Wow! You really do have some schedule.
I admire you for all the volunteer work you're doing.
I'm glad you're interested. Tuesdays would be perfect for me as I am off that day. How old is your grandson? I have a 2.5-year-old boy, Jake. I live in Parkland near Spanaway. You can come over or we can meet somewhere. Just let me know.

Hi Diana!
Honest I wasn't ignoring you, I read your post in email then couldn't get back in here to answer you.
I would love to get together with you if you have time! Tuesdays and Saturdays are my best days for doing things since I do not have work or church those days AND I have the car too!
My schedule is screwy...
but I can meet you any day except Sunday after 3:30 pm, Tuesday all day.
I work 2 volunteer jobs, one at Church where I am one of the audio techs - 6 to 8 hours a day 5 days a week, and one here on the net where I am a Chaplain and administrative assistant - on and off all day and nights 7 days a week. Plus I babysit my grandson and attempt to keep house. I tend to sleep 4am to noonish. My husband has the car 3am to 3:30pm for work. I did say my schedule was screwy...
So I may have Wesley with me when we meet but he is a good little guy and shouldn't be a problem.
Well now that you know my life story... thank You for the Offer!!! You have no idea what it means for me.

I am at the very beginning of my trip to surgery.
I have my appointment for the referral... 4/26/05 ... 2 days before my 32nd Anniversary.
The days are crawling by and at the same time speeding by, does that make sense?
I told my husband I was considering the WLS and he was relieved! Seems he didn't tell me how concerned he was about my weight.
I understand I have a loooooong trip ahead..........

I was just revisiting this post. I have a better answer for your pic question.
Go to http://www.photobucket.com. That's the one I use; there are others out there too. This site will let you upload your photo from your computer and store it there.
BROWSE for your photo on your computer and select it. Then hit the SUBMIT button. Further down the page you will see your photo.
Beneath your photo(s) there are three addresses (URL, TAG, IMG). Click once inside the URL address. That should select it (if all the letters turn black then it's selected) and hit Ctrl-C for COPY.
Go to your profile update screen and under "Profile Color & Photos" you will see a spot for the URL for Photo 1 and Photo 2. Click inside the URL spot and hit Ctrl-V for PASTE.
Now you can enter a description for your photo(s).
Good luck. Let me know if you have trouble. Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V are standard shortcut keys for copy and paste and can be used most any where, not just word processing programs.
So there's your lesson for today. I"ll be looking out for your photo. Congrats again on getting a surgery date.
