Topic: This will be my last post...
Until I am post-op! I only log on here at work so this is my last posting until I get back to work. I might get on from home just to post an update a few days after surgery. I have told Mari that it would be ok for her to post an update too. She is coming to visit me after her appt with Dr. Bock. Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement. I love you all!!!
Take care,
Lori

Topic: RE: One week from today...
Lori, I started getting really nervous after I met with the Anesthesiologist. Deciding on the Living Will executor (a son? fiancee? sister??) and my own will was very stressful. Luckily I was so busy with getting everything ready that I didn't have too much time to think. I did have trouble sleeping and kept rethinking my decision.
Finally the day before the surgery, I felt ready and more relaxed. Dr. Bock said I looked scared before surgery, lol, but I felt at that time that all would be well with me.
I would be happy to give everyone a report on you after I visit you on Thursday. Hang in there!
Mari

Topic: One week from today...
I will be recovering from surgery. I can't believe it's only a week away. Seems really weird that I am now preparing what I will take to the hospital, picking up food that I need for after surgery, finding places for my kids to go while we are in Redmond, notifying everyone of my absence until Sept 7th, etc... I am more than a little nervous at this point. I am having little anxiety attacks all the time. Thanks for all the support and encouragement. It is greatly appreciated!

Topic: RE: Jamie had complications...
Hi Carol,
My surgery is on the 24th. I am feeling better about it today. It just scared me that Jamie was having problems. I know that I will be in capable hands.
I am soooo glad your husband is taking this more serious. I kinda figured that he really didn't know how major this surgery is. I was hoping he wasn't THAT uncaring!!
That goes to show just how some people are not fulling informed about how serious it is. I believe that is why some people have the attitude that we are taking the "easy" way out by having this surgery. If they actually took the time to research it and see that it isn't the easy way, there would be more compassion.
Thanks for the kind words and the support. You know that we will be here for you when your time comes also!!!
Take care sweetie,
Lori

I will keep her in prayer.
Don't let this scare you Lori.
Complications happen but this surgery seems to go without a hitch for most people. How many surgeries are done in any given month and we may hear of maybe 1 or 2 who have problems, many of which are not serious.
Is your surgery on the 23 or 24th? I will keep you in prayer also. (((HUG)))

Topic: RE: 23 days from today...
Hi! and THANK YOU for all the offers!!!
I think the problems are ironed out with my husband... a picture is worth a thousand words
I made him sit and read the booklet when it got here...
He now understands! He turned to me and said..."I did not realize that this was such a radical surgery, I'm sorry"
He will be taking a minimum of 8 days off which for him is 2 weeks and he will be with me.
I got all the tests that Harriet wanted done finished in one day!
I called for the abdominal scan appt. on Friday and they had an opening on Monday at 8am!
My echo-cardiogram was at 10:30am the same day and I had all the blood work and lung xrays done while I was there.
The only thing not finished is the 24 hour urine test
I also got a call from Harriet on Monday saying I needed a sleep study done so technically I haven't finished all the tests but the ones on the first form are done ;)
Thank You My Friends!
Carol

Topic: Jamie had complications...
Jamie's hubby posted to the Yahoo Group that she has had some complications. She had to go back in for emergency surgery this weekend to try and find a bleed. She is ok now and hopefully will be complication free from now on. I wish her the best.
