Topic: RE: Has anyone??
Thanks for asking and for sending me your support!
I have responded to messages to the Washington Board and the yahoo-ghc group that you could read.
I got home on Wed. evening. I'm doing well, no problems like vomiting, infection, etc. I feel good and only take a pain pill once or twice a day. I can go up and down the stairs and wonder around the house. I went outside and clipped off some dead roses yesterday and ended up feeling very weak and dizzy. Guess I'm really not as good as new yet! lol
I have to remember to drink fluids often. I've been enjoying reading my pile of books and newspapers.
I've been eating the following: Yogurt - lowfat fruited mixed with plain yogurt because it was too sweet, Applesauce, SF popcicles, pureed egg, mashed potatoes, blended cottage cheese -not very good but has protein, Cream of Wheat, rice and veg. soup (made by my X and blended -yummy!), SF chocolate pudding. I also have on hand to be eaten soon: split pea soup (w/o ham/bacon), tomato soup, cream of broccoli/mushroom soup. I will make these with milk to up the protein.
I'm concerned with the protein. I don't know how you can get 60 gr. in a day with out a protein drink. It would give me 27 gr. protein and 80 cal. but we were told to use real food. A cup of yogurt has 11 gr. or a cup of cot. ch. has 17 gr., but you only eat 2-4 oz at a time.
I gained 10 lbs of fluid in the hospital, so Dr. Bock gave me a Lasix inject. on Wed. morning. Well, it was a lot of exercise to the restroom and back that day! I have lost 9 lbs of my pre-surgery weight!!
I will be going to see Harriett to take out my staples on Thursday. Dr. Bock left this weekend for a Bariatric conference in FL and then will take a vacation. I will see him on July 18.
That's all for now. Still thinking about you all who will soon be in my shoes!

Topic: RE: I have a date!!
I am much better about the date now. And I am thankful that it gives me time to lose some weight and shrink my liver. I know the time will fly by and I won't be ready when the day finally comes!
It feels GREAT to finally have a date!!! Boy, you only have 5 more wakeups and you will be there!!! I will be thinking of you alot these next few days. Sending good wishes and lots of hugs your way.

Thanks Carol! Have you heard anything about getting help with the cost of the Nutritionist? I have been thinking of you and wondering if you got anywhere with that. Take care and thanks again!

I am glad to hear things are moving along for you too! I think Harriet is finally getting things moving for everyone. She seemed a little less frazzled when I ran into her last Friday. It will go by fast for you too!
Thanks for the happy dance!!!

Lori, thanks for letting us know. I'm sorry you aren't getting in sooner, but the good part of it is that you have time to diet and shrink your liver and yourself! Time will go by really fast, I'm sure. It's so good to at last have a date, isn't it?
