AFTER SURGERY NAUSEA
I have decided to have the rny but I'm a little afraid of the aftereffects of surgery. I'm currently enrolled in school and will be also when I have my surgery. I'm worried that after surgery I'll be nauseated or really sick and unable to go to school or work when I'm released. I don't usually have a problem with nausea but this will be a big change for my body. Also, anyone have any suggestions on vitamins? They usually make me really sick and I've tried to take them with, before and after meals. I can take viactiv and the gummy vitamins. I'm not for sure if this will be enough for my surgery.
Hi Jessica, I wondered the same thing about nausea before surgery. It's not bad at all really, nothing like the way you vomit before surgery. Some people have it early out but they have medicine to give you for it. Usually everyone is on a chewable vitamin for the first few months like Flintstones, and I've heard of some people over a year out that take chewable. I take the walmart version of Centrum and my labs were fine in that area. Good luck and hope this helps.

Hello Jessica,
My surgery was 9/19/06 and I've had very little, if any, nausea. The one thing you want to be sure to do after surgery is drink hot liquids. It's a detour to nausea, because it pushes the mucus out of your pouch. (the culprit to nausea)
I drink hot green/ginseng/lemon-tea with a touch of honey and it works perfectly for me. If anytime I do find myself nauseated, it helps me a lot.
My hubby also had the surgery (5 weeks after me) and he went back to work 10 days afterwards. He has little nausea too and is doing great!
Just remember to get those hot liquids in and that will help with fighting off the nausea!
Good luck to you--
Dee
