no insurance/self pay

Is there anyone out there who has done the self pay that lives in Ky? No credit cards here!And do the surgeon and hospital or clinic discount? This would be for the Lap-Band procedure only.

Hi Ginger, I personally didn't do self pay. I do know, however, most hospitals will discount just a bit if you pay yourself. Another option you have is going out of the US for the procedure. It is much cheaper and you can research around OH to find a good surgeon. Good Luck, Katrina

I was self-pay and it cost me right at $20,000.00 for my RNY. I chose gastric bypass over lap band. I don't really know what lap band cost in comparison. I was told this rate was discounted to me because of self-pay and I'm satisfied it probably was. I know some doctors charge a higher rate when insurance is covering and believe hospitals probably do too. I hope your price isn't too high and that all goes well in your weight-loss journey.
