Several have already cleared up the Medicare confusion, so I won't respond to that. The Bariatric Center at Georgetown has received provisional status from Center if Excellence (COE), and had our site visit in February for full approval. The site review nurse stated it could be 60-90 days before we have official word on the results, but we are almost there.
There are currently 2 sites in Kentucky that have received COE recognition, and I feel strongly there will be many more in the very near future.

Pamela,
Just wanted to drop you a note and let you know that Georgetown has an excellent program!! Something I looked for was what all would happen after my surgery?? Georgetown has a great aftercare program. Cathi RN that responded to your post is very involved and a surgery pt herself. Georgetown has their own message board too. Once again I would highly recommend Dr Weiss and Dr Oldham at Georgetown. They are worth checking out! Even on OH site you can read rave reviews about them.
Just my 2 cents worth.

I too have to respond to this, the hospital I had my surgery at is medicare approved.St. joseph east Dr. Nieghbert, Stiener And Greenlee are great. They have a wonderful staff who teaches you everything you need to know before and after the surgery. My sister and my daughter had the surgery elsewhere and they were not treated as well.I thank God for St.Joe and Dr.Nieghbert he no doubt saved my life. They definately earned there center of excellence status.
