Well Kaiser has there own network of provider's if it is approved it will be done by there provider's it is not often Kaiser let you out of network...and from reading other people profiles i think they require you have a year worth of diet documentation before they will approve your procedure...but if you co-morbidity you may not need that documentation. Kaiser is a challenge. Angie B-(LPN) Reimbursement Analyst

I started the process back in Sept and was just approved. Since Sept Ive lost 50lbs. My dr said to maintain and dont lose anymore. He said I will still do the liquid diet prior to lose a few extra pounds. When I went to the nutritionist she said that I should start practicing my post-surgery eating habits a month or two prior to the surgery so I could get use to what I would have to go thru. That would help me drop some pounds as well. I wouldnt worry about it too much... maybe try walking a 1/2 hour in the evenings if possible so you can eat the same but burn more calories. Don't forget that different times of day you can weigh different and depending on how close to your cycle you are as well. Also if you are eating/drinking a lot of sodium you could be retaining water.

I am LPN x19 yrs, but I just recently decided to try WLS. I just recently began working with Kaiser Permanente and I had to choose their plan. I did choose the plan with the most options and flexibility, but I am nervous about their approval rate.
Does anyone have any dealings with Kaiser and WLS?

Topic: RE: LPN new to this site!!!!
Hi Michelle,
My name is Mary (pre-op) and I am new to this site--I found it via a support group in Minnesota two weeks ago. I have been an LPN for about 10 years--currently not working. We just moved here from California last month.
I too was previously a Director of Staff Development in a long term care facility.
I don't think this messageboard is as active as some of the others.
