Topic: RE: Questions: Work and Co-workers
Hi,
I am an LPN also. I had the RNY on 9/20/2005 and have lost 110 pounds.
I feel better right now than I have felt in years. I do not take anything for my diabetes now. My back don't hurt. And I do not wear my CPAP machine anymore.
My weight effected my work alot. My legs hurt, my back hurt, and I had NO energy at all.
Yes, surgery has helped remove all of these problems
My co-workers were worried for me, but lately I have had alot of positive comments about the surgery. I think they were waiting to see the outcome of my surgery. I had an STNA tell me today that I look great and she can tell that I feel better. I have so much energy! I exercise now and can get around so much better.
It was rough to start out, but the farther you get out from your surgery, the better you get.
I was also nervous about surgery, but I knew that I had to do something about my weight and my health because I was headed for disaster.
I am VERY glad that I had the surgery.
I am asked everyday at work if I would do it again, I always tell them YES! It was the best thing that I have ever done for myself.
Hope that this helps you. Good luck with your decision.

Topic: LPN new to this site!!!!
Hello,
My name is Michelle and I have been an LPN for 7 years. I had the RNY on September 20, 2005 and have lost 110 pounds.
I still have about 50-60 pounds to go.
I currently work in a long term care facility. I am the staff development coordinator/HR person.
I do scheduling and inservicing.
I also work the floor as needed.
I'm glad that I was wondering around and found a site just for the LPN'S.
We need a spot where we can chat with each other.

so did you have your surgery yet or did you change your mind. Jan
Topic: Questions: Work and Co-workers
Question # 1 How has your weight affected your work?
Question # 2 Has the surgery removed those aspects that were effected?
Question # 3 Were your co-workers friends before and after or just before and not after or after and not before? I guess I'm asking how it changed work for you and the way your co-workers and friends took it?
I am just pretty scared right now anticipating what the results of my consult are and how my family, friends and co-workers will deal with me after it is done, if I get to do this. The RN and dietician for the bariatric surgeon, both felt I was a good candidate for surgery. So did the psychologist who did my eval. THe consult will be held on February 15th. As that day approaches, I get more and more nervous. I don't know why.
Thanks for caring.

Topic: RE: LPN coming back from the dead
Welcome back to the walking LPNs.
I am hoping to have a lap band done soon. Waiting for consult results. Good to see other LPNs doing this. THey are just starting to do lap bands in Duluth, MN.
Is the pre-diets the same for lap as RNY?

Topic: LPN coming back from the dead
Hi all
I am so happy to find this message board. I had lap band surgery Nov 4, 2005 and I have lost 43 to date. I had my third fill Jan 3 and I believe restriction has started so my wieght should start dropping more again. I have been on inactive status for 14-years. Since my surgery and the new use of a CPAP machine I feel like my whole life is changing and I have a new life. I am enrolling in the LPN to BSN program at ISU through The College Network. While waiting several months and studying at the same time hopefully I will lose another significant amount and I can return back to work slowly to get used to it again. I have already set up my CPR class in Februrary and I am taking my re-certification for IV therapy in May. I am so excited and would love to hear how you lives has changed and if I am moving too fast. I am just so excited about the new me. It is like Dr. Curry gave me a key to a new car and said have fun.
Love Carla
