Topic: RE: married RNY couples both had wls
My hubby had his open RNY 3 years ago and has lost 200 lbs. We wanted to have our surgeries at the same time but the surgeon wouldnt do it because we have a daughter who at the time was 9 and he said she was to young for us to both be down. Anyway then we had to move out of state - (while he was off on his medical leave his office laid him off and closed his office and moved to Texas from Calif) the new insurance wouldnt cover WLS - So now 3 yrs later I am disabled and on medicare and am finally going to have the surgery this year (dont have a date yet) I cant wait!!!!! Shirley I agree with the lady who is tellingl you that it is no longer yours, it is you and your husband. If you get the surgery and have it w/o your husband there will you still be alone? I believe you would say that you will still be alone, there are other options as far as making pmts, look into those other options, save your marriage. What God has ordained let no man put asunder. Find that middle ground. God Bless and I will be praying for you

MARRIED- 3 1/2 years CHILDREN- none WORK- secretary for a medical facility LIVE- western KY HOBBIES- I love music, dancing, movies, reading, spending time with friends and family, traveling, getting out of the house. I had Open RNY on Nov. 30th and am doing great so far, no complications, I was very lucky. So far I think I've lost 22 pounds. My highest weight was 295 in September so if I count from there I've lost 36 pounds. I'm so glad I had this surgery even though its still a trial to see what will make me sick. But to lose weight and be healthy is going to be totally worth it.

Hi Everyone: This is my first time on this board. My husband is now recovering well from his Nov. 8th surgery. I am scheduled for Dec. 6th. Our surgeon definitely would not consider doing our surgeries the same day. I am okay with that because I'll eventually catch up to where my DH is. We are looking foward to a healthy NEW LIFE together. My husband was so morphined up that he said his surgeon told him that his stomach was stuck to his uterus. I haven't let up on this one. dianne owen pittsburgh

Hi! Both my husband and I had open RNY on June 7, 2004. I went first and my hubby was second on the same day. We love the fact that we have the mutual support of eating the same way, healing (more or less) the same way, and just being there for emotional support. I recommend that if any married couple is contemplating having this surgery separately, DONT! Do it together if you can. It made a world of difference to us.

Topic: I'm a Newlywed..
Just found this board..I've been recently married (6/12/04). The AMOS family has gone through this engagement and wedding as I have been planning it for the last two years and I had surgery a year ago. I was a size 24 when we were engaged and I wore a BEAUTIFUL, strapless size 12 wedding dress! (I'll post some pics on my page soon) The thing in my relationship is that I always told my new husband that my sex drive was awful because I was so overweight that I felt horrible and hated my body. Now that I've lost 114 lbs, I still have very little sex drive and dislike my body (all the flab and hanging skin I need to get rid of). Has anyone else gone through this?
