Topic: Akido or Ju Jitsu
Does anyone know of an Akido or Ju-Jitsu instructor in south Oklahoma City or moore.  I studied Ju-Jitsu along with my Wing Chung but that was over twenty years ago.  After my surgery, I would really like to get back into it.  Thanks.

Topic: TKD - other martial artists out there????
Okay, so I see that this boards not very active (tongue in cheeck & pun intended!)

I got my first degree BB  a couple years ago when I was around 215.  Haven't been to TKD since 235, very difficult to do so.  Had some injuries that decreased exercise, gained lots of weight, etc.  Now getting WLS & am planning on getting back into TKD just as soon as I can.

Anybody else out there who wants to talk on this board?

Hi!  I just found this board & to say that it is not very active is a MASSIVE understatement, but WOW!  You've done a lot of martial arts, very cool.  I'm a frist degree BB in TKD.  Totally fun & empowering.  I am having the DS next month & hope to get back to TKD by autumn at the latest.  I had to stop due to some chronic foot injuries, that once there, just won't go away due to my weight.  Frustrating!

I hope you're still around on OH & that you're doing well.

I know this is an old post & not an active board to say the least, but if you're still out there - I also needed to stop ATA for weight reasons until WLS next month.  I'm a first degree BB!  Can't wait to get back.

Where do you workout? I am also in the Mckinney area and am interested in starting Hapkido. I took TKD for years, and am looking to expand my knowledge base (and get back in shape!) Please send me an email at [email protected]. Thanks for your time.

Topic: Question about Lap-Band and ground fighting...
Hello, I'm about ready to get my lap-band. Afterward i want to get back into MA and was wondering if anyone has had problems with their lap-band and ground fighting? My doc said it should be ok...but how tough are the lap-bands? Can they take the abuse of ground fighting (not full-sparring, just dojo practice). Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Topic: Awesome Board
I think it's great to have a martial art board up for here for those of us who enjoy the arts. I have studied in Goju-Ryu karate as well as tae kwon do, Eagle Claw kung fu, and Northern Shaolin. In regards to my surgery, that will be coming up in under a month, so I am excited about that. I am already active in the martial arts again, so the surgery will only help in that arena. It's great to meet you all.

If I were you I would continue to practice at home. I'm sure there are things tha tyou can do that won't put any undue pressure on you ankles and heels. Unless you can't stand for long periods of time. for some medical reason. I personally am a Kenpo Practioner and started traing when I was 510lbs and my doctor thought it was great. But then I guess it depends on your current condition. Mike
