Topic: RE: hello?
Hi Steven!
I spelled it wrong. It is Kishindo. It is a Okinawan based mixture of Akido, Judo, and some others I can't remember. My Sensi is the Co-founder of the acadamy/system. He is a 6th degree.
I have not returned to class yet. I am only now getting enough energy back to live my life, take care of my family and house... Hopefully next month.
Kata makes me soooo happy!!! I am uptight until I learn it and have it memorized and then when I do it it gives me a rush.
Good luck with the insurance approval...

great to hear from you !!! can you explain a little about the keshendo system? like you i love doing kata. most people find it boring but i get a great feeling from it. it really clears my mind. i currently hold a orange belt( with stripe ) in the kwanmukan karate-do.
i am still waiting for the ins co. to approve me. no biggie.

Hi! I am new here. I had my surgery on March 28, 2003 and I have lost about 95 pounds so far. I started doing Shorei Goju Karate in September and I am TOTALLY addicted. I study everyday, I have classes 4 days a week. I am actually going to test for my yellow belt tonight. I am very excited, but nervous!! I hope I get to know a lot of people here!

Hi Steven!
I am off on vacation and can not sleep to save my life! I just found this message board! Hello back! I have my surgery December 4th. My Dr says I may be able to go back to karate in January. I can not wait! I am excited to see what I can do with these weight restrictions gone. I am hoping that I will not be such a sitting duck when I spar! LOL!! I am a purple belt in the Kishendo system. I really like the bo staff and nunchacu (sp?). I also am a kata junkie! Love it!
Have a great Turkey day!

Topic: RE: resume training after surgery
I resumed full training approximately 3 months post surgery. Prior to that I "did what I could" but I did not do full contact sparring. Once my doctor said I was totally healed up and ready to go, back to full contact I went. I have been training now for 5 years and am 1 year post op. The weight loss will make a huge difference in your training. Good luck and feel free to email if you have any questions.
