WOW!!! Lisa Great to hear!!!
Your family sounds like mine...
My oldest daughter is a 1st degree black belt as is my hubby, and my youngest daughter is a white belt, and I just started back myself, as high green but working out in the white and yellow until I build back up!!!!
Congratulations on starting back and good luck on getting back some of that flexability, I know in time it will get better for you.

you will get there soon enough. I started Taekwondo in June 2003 and had to take off in Sept 2004. I am so glad I went back.

Topic: Back in Taekwondo
We started back in Taekwondo on January 31st. I am so glad we did! I missed it a lot. My children and I are green belts and my husband is brown belt. I no longer fit in my TKD uniform. I can wear my DH uniform. How cool is that? I fit in 5 now, not an 8. Taekwondo uniforms are different than regular clothes sizes. In regular clothes, I am in an 16/18 versus 22/24. That is cool too. I have lost some flexability but I am gettting there.
I have started physical therapy now, so I hope that will help too on my back.

Topic: RE: Hapkido
Jamie,
Thanks for responding. I passed my belt test in Dec and am now a Green in Hapkido. I love it and going is something I look forward to everytime. We also have no sparring in our dojang as sparring can be quite dangerous in Hapkido. We also have hosted some of the best masters of Hapkido including the founder Grandmaster Ji, Han Jae. It was a real honor getting to work and train with him. I hope you are able to find a good Hapkido school sometime and can get your son back into it. It is a blast and maybe you can hubby can join him in it!

Topic: RE: Should I wait for Plastic Surgery
Do what you think is best for you. KWIM? If you would rather wait until you have earned your Black Belt, then go for it. Having plastics will definitly through off that time table. Although after blackbelt there is still so much to do to improve yourself Mind-Body & Spirit, there is no end after blackbelt. So just consider all of your options and do what you think is best, in your heart!

Topic: RE: Hello
Start training girl! You can do anything that you put your mind to! I started learning right along side my son even though I was not enrolled since I needed to know the patterns in order to help my son practice at home. Yeah it was harder for me at 257 but I was able to do it. My son and hubby both do TKD and personally I cann't wait until I am healed enough from surgery so that I can enroll formally! My only thing I that I hate to buy the kicks & punches until I am a bit smaller. Perhaps they will let me borrow some until I am down further in my weight or something. I already have to buy uniforms in the higher sizes and keep buying new ones as I loose weight... thank goodness for eBay! LOL!

Hi Rick!
My son started out in Hapkido when he was 4 1/2 and he loved it! Although when we moved back to the Fort Campbell area all we could find was TKD or various Japanese martial arts. (We did not want to cross into that and confuse him with yet another language! LOL!) He is 6 now and is doing well in TKD (2nd Yellow) but he misses Hapkido, he said it was more fun! LOL! I personally liked it b/c of the no sparring rule at his dojo. Good luck on your testing!
I can't wait until I am healed enough to join my son and hubby at TKD.

Our whole family are in Taekwondo. Although currently we are not in it right now due to financial difficulties. We are getting back into it in the middle of January. Our children and I are green belts and my husband is a brown belt. We stopped in Sept when my surgery was near. I miss it terribly and we are going back in January. We started as white belts and my husband was already a green belt starting out last June 2003. I can't wait to go back.
