A little over 2 months post op

Although you'd never know it looking at me now, about 10 years ago I got into gym workouts pretty seriously (3-5 times a week) and had an excellent trainer. I started with Nautilus for about 6 months just to learn the motions. The machine makes it harder to either "cheat" or improperly perform an exercise. Then I moved to free weights and saw major changes in my arms, chest, and legs. Lifecycle was my cardio mainstay- you get to sit down!  The sad truth about building muscle is it weighs more as it gets more dense and it offsets your weight loss. Don't get discouraged though, because the new muscle eats more calories to maintain and you  increse the loads when appropriate.   Thank you  for bringing this up, it has stirred me to thinking about re-engaging the weights after my surgery.  Mark

Thanks Mark! That's the kind of stuff i really need to know. I don't want to do anything that will hinder weightloss. So I think I'll follow your advise til I lose another 40lbs or so and then get into weight training.

I am almost 6 weeks out of surgery and get discourage when I read about people losing 50lbs after 2 months.  I feel that I am doing something wrong.  I realize that I have not had a fill but what is wrong with me.  Did any of you feel like this?  I realize I am ahead 2 weeks after their surgery. I still haven't had my first fill.  Am I crazy and inpatient? I guess I still have instant gratification issues. Rosario

Hi Sherry - 50 lbs. is wonderful, I know you must be soooo happy!!  I'm with Mo, try the soft stuff, but if the problem continues or gets worse, I'd call the doc.   Also, I became nauseous at the thought of drinking one more protein shake, so now I use the EAS Advant Edge in French vanilla as a creamer in my tea or coffee.  If you still can't stand it, buy some s/f Davinci coffee syrup and use that, too, it'll help mask the taste. Good luck, Tia

Sherry I am a couple of weeks post op and still on a pureed diet. Could you try low fat cream soups with a can of chicken or shrip or crab blended in. My husband took 12oz of fat free sodium free chicken broth and put it in the blender with 2 cans of canned chicken. I heated it in the microwave and sipped it. It had 50 grams of protein and went down real easy. And tasted better then the protein drinks.

That is an AWESOME idea! I'll give that a shot over the weekend. Thanks so much!
