One week out and
13 lbs. down.
I went for my 1 week yesterday. Got the drain out and got some prescriptions for the gall bladder and some antibiotic cream for the area where my drain tube was. It is kind of sore there.
Since starting on full liquids yesterday, I have not been too hungry. Coffee just doesn't sit well with me anymore so I guess I stay with the tea.
I am still very tired and do not have any energy. I am sure that will pass. In the neantime, I will enjoy the down time. I think I might take myself out in the car for a bit today.
I read somewhere that I could have thinned out oatmeal on the full liquid diet. I tried that this morning and it was pretty good. Yesterday I made a protein shake with powder and added a little peanut butter. That was good and lasted for 3 meals.
I have to tell you though that I am not a big fan of fat free items such as mayo, salad dressings, etc. I was always under the impression that ff products contained hidden sugars to make up for the taste. Does anyone have any feedback on that?
I'll post again soon.

You sound wonderful, Congrats on the 13lbs and get ready for more. I like popicles on the liquid diet, some like Jello and broth. I guess I like all the fat free products cause I can't have the others. Miricle whip light is really good. I tried fat free cheese today melt on my puree soup. I am still on liquids and puree for yet other week but I think things are going to get better. Best wishes!

Way to go Gail!! WOOOO HOOOO! Very happy to hear you are healing. I've learned those protein shakes translate to energy and its been ok using milk as a mixer. This vastly improves the taste. I agree with you on the fat free crap. Rememeber Snackwell cookies? No fat but a ton of sugars and by no means wls friendly. Even yougurt has lots of sugar. My newest friend is thinned cream of wheat sweetened with Splenda and a tablespoon of Smuckers sugar free strawberry preserves. It seems to really satisfy and the warm food is a nice change from popsicles which I still eat a lot of.
Kepp up the good work,
Mark
Gail,
On those FF items. Look for the sugars, milk sugars, etc. Most of them also contain Sugar Alcohol which I understand do not have the same impact as regular sugars on diabetics. Still, my NUT told me to watch out for them.
Hope this helps. Reduced Fat items are better tasting, just check the fat and sugar contents (as we do with everything).
Hope this helps.
Congrats on the weight loss.

Hi Gail! So glad to hear things are going well. I'm sure your energy level will come back, stronger than ever. Congrats on the first 13 pounds of your journey being gone, YEAH!
I didn't read ahead, so hopefully I am not duplicating anyone's answer. But, when I was on a low-carb diet, I looked at many low fat products. My experience was that most had sugar added to make up for the taste lost due to reducing the fat. What I do still is compare the carb counts in the regular and reduced fat versions, and if the carbs are more, I usually stick with the regular.
I am not a diabetic, but I am insulin resistant, so the increased carbs stand more of a chance at sabotaging my diet than the regular amount of fat. Since I haven't started a bariatric diet, I might yet find that I have to switch to the low fat after all. But, I know my body does better on low sugar/low carbs right now.
Hugs!
