I have had a WOW day!!!! Now I feel really sick.

I had my 1 month check up today with Dr. Vanguri.  My official weight loss since my surgery date of 9/12 is 45 lbs.  OMG!  I can start on real food, no more pureed.  What a kick.  Of course the topper to my day is that I feel really lousy.   Can I ask if anyone out there has had this happen?  Today, after leaving the doctor's, me and DH went to Wal-Mart.  I was feeling good.  But after being on my feet for about an hour, I started cramping and had to run to the bathroom.  After a bout of diarrhea, I was sweaty, cold, and felt like I was close to passing out.  Sounds like dumping to me.  But I had not eaten anything for at least 4 hours and that was 1-2 oz of plain yogurt.  I had the same thing happen to me a few days before when we went to the grocery store.  I told the Dr. about the first incident and he said I was probably trying to do too much and not eating enough or often enough.  Has this happened to you? Still, I'm thrilled with my WOW moment.  I wish I could enjoy it more. Can't wait until next month.  On my way!

Hope everyone is doing good.

Sounds to me like your blood sugar went to low. You do need to eat. I have had it happen to me a few times since surgery. I used to have it happen often prior to surgery due to my diabetes.  Eat a little something every couple of hours sweetie to keep your blood sugars stable.

Thanks Aime, I actually forget to eat.  At this stage in the "honeymoon" I'm just not hungry.  Now that I can start on real food, I should try to carry a snack or two with me. By the way, I want you to know that I love your signature.  It warms my heart everytime I read it. Thanks again.

Hi April, I agree on the signature, it is heartwarming. I've also found it to be true, there is a lot of love on this board, and it's so appreciated! Congrats on your 45 pounds, that is phenomenal! The Wal Mart by me sells individual string cheese. Since I can go there at lunch, it's right near work, I sometimes pick one up. They aren't the low fat version, but at this point in my journey, pre-op, that doesn't impact my diet. I can't speak about how it will be post-op. Hopefully, what you experienced was just your body reminding you to feed it, and it won't happen anymore.
Hugs!

April, congrats on the weightloss!  What a great feeling, huh?  I'm in agreement with the queasiness - keep the blood sugar up.  Also, just to let you know, there is a yucky stomach bug going around down here in Southern MD.   TraciL

Don't worry Traci, the bug found it to our area also.  Our oldest son, wife and 2 boys all had it.  They stayed away so I wouldn't get it.  But just being out in public leaves us exposed. Thanks for your input.  Everyone seems to agree that its low blood sugar.

April that is great, I am sorry you are not feeling well.  It does sound like low blood sugar.  I can tell you that dumping is much worse and you will know it when that happenes.  But I hope it never does, that was not fun and had to stay up till midnight drinking to replace my fluids.  I was in the bathroom for 3 hours.  NOT FUN! Get Well  Hugs Kristen

Kristen, You have had so many issues of your own, that I am I am always amazed when I see you answering someone else's problems.  I guess it takes your mind off your own immediate problems for a little while. After reading your message, I have to say, "You're right".  I don't want to experience dumping. I need to find some high protein whatevers to have with me when I'm out. Thanks.  Feel better.  You're in my thoughts and prayers.
