Hi,

Someone posted some information about the lack of care he/she got at Bayview. It was mostly the Nursing Assistants who take care of him/her. I can't find the info, but I would love to hear from whoever sent that in. I too will be going to Bayview and I really want to know about any care that they do or not do. So whoever posted that, would you please PM me and tell me again what happened ?

I would really appreciate it. and thanks.

I hope you got  the answers you were looking for however keep in mind that ONE persons experience does not mean you will have the same. It is very important to do your homework but its equally as important to make your own judgements. I dont know anything about Bayview myself personally but I know a lot of people here have used that hospital. Best of luck to you. ~Jilly~

I had surgery at Hopkins Bayview and had no issues.  In fact, I felt badly over the fact that one of the nurses had gotten her foot run over with my bed and ended up with a fracture.  Mind you I was pretty out of it when it happend, but I still felt pretty awful about it.

I had surgery there and had no problems. recently it has been a bit difficult to schedule an appointment with my surgeon but other than that, I am very glad i went there. the most important part is the surgeon and bayview has excellent ones. loved mine!

I had surgery there and only encountered a few issues.  The biggest thing for me was that they weren't giving me my normal meds.  For instance, I had to say something to the surgery team in order for them to start giving me my Effexor.  Also I have asthma and they weren't giving me my asthma meds, by the second night there I was having a really hard time breathing.  I ended up using the Advair inhaler I brought from home even though you aren't supposed to do that.  That resulted in an extra night's stay.  I will say, and Jennifer_H will agree with me, that you do need to advocate for yourself.  They didn't give either of us our pain meds on a schedule, we had to ask for them.  Most of the time it took a while to get them, so be sure to ask early.  Don't be afraid to use your call button either.

Other than that, the large majority of the staff were very nice and helpful.  You'll likely have nursing students in during the day instead of techs and I found them to actually have more attention to detail as well as giving less painful injections.

I had better than superb care at Bayview.  I had a few problems once I was in my room the night of surgery, and the staff went to gret lengths to ensure that I was well taken care of.  Somehow, I even manged to score the VIP-Executive room when I was released from ICU - it was awesome!

I have absolutely no complaints about the level of care, or the dedication of the staff at that facility.

Hi everyone, Thank you so much for all the responses. I did think about maybe this person just had a bad ordeal and I too realized that we are all different under different cir****tances. I was just kinda curious, as I have only ever heard of great things about those surgeons and Bayview.
I do have another question for those of you who had to stay in ICU overnight. How was that experience and what should I be aware of ? I have never been in ICU before, so I kinda just want a heads up about your experiences. I went today for a weight loss appt. and only have 1 more to do in Dec. and then the paperwork will be sent. I am getting so excited or did I say that already ?? Sorry if I did. Also, my biggest challange to come is my nutrition  once I get home. Any hints or suggestions for that too ? I welcome them all.
Again, thank you so much for your answers. I appreciate the time you took to let me know.

Luv you all,

Ellen,
I had great care there, too. In fact, the nurses kept asking me if I wanted pain meds cause I wasn't asking for them (didn't need them at the time). I didn't need to go to the ICU so can't help you there...
