Uh Oh!
No harm really unless you are not getting relief from GERD or stomach ulcer protection. Probably not be fully absorbed or absorbed at all. I recall it comes in a chewable/dissolvable form-- Prevacid Rx if not Prilosec.

I know I was worried about my anti-depressant being time released but my surgeon said that since I'm this far out from surgery that it's ok. I think you might be alright. I mean it's not going to kill you if you're taking it....but monitor how you feel. I know I was taking pepcid right out of surgery and then I stopped because I didn't realize I was going to have to take it for a longer period of time but I DID end up getting really bad heartburn........but not in the chest or throat........it was down where the old stomach connected with the intestines again.......I had just abdominal pain and just a sick feeling. Once I started back on pepcid, I was totally fine. Talk with your surgeon about it. If you're still not comfortable with taking extended release meds, maybe switch over to Pepcid.....it works just as well.
