Thanks Tia.  It's funny (not in a haha way), but Brandi is the first person I have had a phone call from a parent/so after surgery and I never expected things not to go 100% as planned, so when I got the call from her Mom, I was quite shocked.

I'm sure after she gets over the initial disappointment, she'll get back on track mentally and persevere.  Besides, she's too loved by the OH family with all the support and care we have for her to not persue her goal of good health and renewed vitality.

Good Morning All,

I got a late start today since I had an early morning MD appointment. For today...

1 - I am glad that my Orth MD is not pushing me to have shoulder surgery yet. However, he did explain that the day is coming and that it may get to a point where it is harder to repair if I wait too long. So maybe later this year, I will have to face this. I am also glad that he felt it was OK to give me another cortisone shot for my elbow. The first one lasted a long time, but has now worn off.  We also had a discussion about my knees. After he looked at pictures, he could not believe I was as active as I am with knees that look like that. Thank goodness I have reduced the stress on the knees significantly - Another benefit from the WLS journey.

2 - I am glad the drive was not really bad this morning and I did not really freak out about it. I just my time and all was well. The trees really look pretty. We'll see what it looks like later. Out here by the office (near UMBC), the campus roads are snow covered.

3 - I am thankful I put my butt on the scale this AM. I knew it might not be too good. But I really needed the numbers to give me some resolve to be more consistent and get out of this rut I am in. I am feeling pretty strong right now. I just need to make it through the entire day and evening - right?

Deb -

I know it's not pleasant to think of yet another surgery, but PLEASE do what you have to so that you can fully enjoy the benefits of wls!!

Did the cortisone shot hurt?  I've had several in my heels, and they didn't hurt at all, but other people have said they cried like a baby at theirs!!

Take care of YOU, please!!

Hugs,

T

Thanks Tia,

I am beginning to face the fact that I may not be able to push off the shoulder surgery indefinitely. I am glad that I don't have to do it right now. I really cannot afford to be out. He is going to take a fresh  MRI in May and we will reassess at that time, unless it acts up before then. He said that given my level of activity (since WLS) that I really should get it done. (he also called me "young". Gotta love that guy!)

Yes, the shot does hurt because they get in right close to the bone. It sorts of stings first and then just aches. Hopefully, this one will be as successful as the last one. I have had the shot in my heel too, but that was a long time ago. While I felt that too, this was worse. He was surprised when I did not flinch when he gave me the shot today. I just told him, I knew it was coming and I knew I had to do this to get the relief.
