Update & Special Thanks!

Wanted to provide an update to let everybody know i just go home from the hospital today and I was very fortunate the obstruction seems to be naturally resolving itself.  Dr. Averbach said I may not be so lucky if it happens again. I apparently have numerous amounts of scar tissue from previous abdominal surgeries along with the RNY.  I really need to pay attention and adhere to increased fluid intake, excercise and alleviating stress.  I want to thank each and everyone of you for thoughts and prayers and for all the well wishes it means so very much to me that you are such a wondeful supportive group.  It is clearly evident that we all rally around each other for support and it is a wonderful thing!  I just looked at the posts to my post and noticed a little too late that today Sage71 (Stacie ) had her RNY at St. Agnes t only wish I saw that earlier I would have tried to get to see her. So when she gets better I will have to tell her it is because she had Dr. Averbach tied up this morning that I did not get to leave until till late LOL. I hope she had an angel because I did not see a post on her status.  Again, my thanks to all of you!!!  Will see you on the boards more!

Hugs

I'm so glad to hear you are getting to go home!  Those words "you can leave when you are ready" were like magic to me!!!

Hopefully things will go well, and it won't happen again.  My grandmother suffered through recurrent obstructions...and I remember how horrible it was for her.  I think we are fortunate now that they have medicine they can put on the adhesions if they need to operate that diminish how much they grow back.

Best wishes to you!
Mel

Thanks Mel!  I hope you are doing well.  Yes these recurrent obstructions are awful, this is the third one I have had, two prior to surgery and this is the only and I hope the last one post surgery.

Take care and keep in touch

Terri, glad to see you are home now!  I find it difficult to get in all the fluids myself, but was thinking.  I set reminders in my cell all the time.  Do you think it would help to set a couple daily reminders on yours to grab a bottle of water?  I think I'm going to try it; can't hurt.

Revised to VSG (6/11/09) weighing 253...

Hi Terri.

I missed out on all of the 'excitement', but I am happy to hear everything worked out and you are feeling better. Isn't Dr. Averbach something else!?!? I read that you paged him at something like 1:00 AM and he got right back to you. I think that is an outstanding characteristic for a surgeon. He really cares about his patients!

Glad you're ok.
