I know in years past, we have done some sort of cookout though last year I think didn't work out. We should get that planning going again so we can all get together in the warm weather and have a good time. Tia, help me out here. first step?

Personally, I'd prefer, in order to cut $, that someone offer up their house, yard, etc., with everyone bringing a dish, sodas, water, etc.

My brother has the ideal house, yard and pool - HOWEVER, given his lack of organizational/housekeeping skills, it'd probably take more time and energy than I'm willing to invvest to get everything ready.

In the past, I've had people complain/whine about cost, location, etc., when I've tried to plan something - BUT, I'm certainly willing to help plan, cook, etc.

LOL!!!  Relax, Ang, I'm almost 4 years out and I can do the occasional soda.  But it's always diet, and more often than not, Coke Zero.

I was NEVER a big soda drinker pre-op even, so it's no prob now!!!  Plus, spouses and children will probably want soda.

Don't worry, I'm sure we'll have CASES of water!!!

Four years or not, still a bad no no no!!

LOL  I couldn't drink Coke Zero pre op even... to much carbonation or something gave me horrible heartburn...  I would take a diet coke or Mt. Dew any day though!

Thank goodness for crystal light, I still don't like water much...

Really??? I thought that was the one standard amongst all surgeon's... Well that and that you need SOME kind of vits!

The only thing that is constant amongst our surgeons is that their guidelines are all different.  Even though we both had RNY, I'm betting our guidelines are different.  And lap-banders don't have the CRITICAL need for supplements because they don't malabsorb.

It's quite the conundrum and another reason why you shouldn't compare yourself to others (not saying that you are, just stating a fact).

This is the confusion that makes recovery so hard when we spend so much time on the boards.  We all have different "needs" and requirements.

But it also gives us the benefit of knowing the ins and outs of what will really harm us when we see that EVERYONE gets told some of the same stuff.

You can't win!  but we are all winning as we lose, so all is good I guess!  As long as the weight comes off, we must all be doing something right!
