So Overwhelmed!!!!!!!!!!
I know it all seems overwhelming right now but it will get better. I had a manual from my surgeon and nut and they required us to keep a food journal for at least the first month. I did it religiously for the first 4 months or so and now I participate in the FEED BAG posts to keep myself accountable. I made a chart on each page of my food journal with all the vits/meds that needed to be taken and made a schedule on when I should be taking them. As I took each, I checked of that box on my chart. I wrote down everything that went into my mouth, fluids and foods. For me it worked really well. Now I'm able to pretty much keep everything in my head with respect to fluid amounts and grams of protein. My vitamins and other prescriptions are kind of a habit now, although I will forget a dose here and there.
You can sample protein powders from Vitalady.com so that you don't have to buy whole containers. MOST people's tastes change after surgery, so you don't want to stock up before hand on something that you like now, just to hate it and waste it afterwards.
Hope that helps,
Heather

I ordered about 150 samples pre-op to use post-op. I'm almost through all of them and some were gross and some were great. To be honest I didn't keep track of the ones that I liked versus the ones I did. I use Designer Whey (chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, unflavored), which can be purchased at Trader Joes as well as Vitamin Shoppe. I have also used the Isopure Strawberries and Cream powder which wasn't terrible. I end up doctoring all of it with greek yogurt, fruit, and/or sugar-free syrups and extra splenda (I like things pretty sweet - sigh).
Oh sweetie, before you know it, you'll be telling others what to do.
Daily vitamins: it becomes habit eventually. But, I still use a pill container that has sections for 4 times daily. That way, I don't forget and mix my calcium with my iron.
Protein, I still can't remember sometimes what I am supposed to get. I keep an excel sheet on my computer to remind me of the doses of everythign I am supposed to take daily. I look at it every few months.
You'll be a pro at it before you know it. Good luck!
