Anyone reccomend using a recliner after surgery?
I spent about two days in my recliner when I first came home, but made it a point to go to bed at night. I only slept for a few hours in bed (right after taking a pain pill...) and got up to go to the recliner. I am betting if you sit up whenever you are most comfortable at home now, that will be fine for you. I would plan for a nice comfy chair and something you can rest your feet on if you don't have a recliner - I would not buy one... JMHO.
OH boy, not sure if its worth the trouble and expense. I did sleep sitting up the first few nights in the overstuffed chair, after a little wonderful pain pill I would just conk out. The next couple of nights I propped myself up on the couch. It may have been about 5 -6 nights that I was unable to lay in the bed. Even when I did go to bed I'd prop myself up and graduly I was able to lay flat. I think I would have loved a recliner, but unless you really want to add one to your exisitng furniture situation I'd just make do. I even got a wedge from the drug store. For some reason I thought it would be perfect but it was to hard, to much of an angle and I never used it.

I was able to sleep in bed from the first night home. I just used a bunch of pillows to prop myself up for the first few nights and gradually got rid of pillows. Like Debbie, I'm a side sleeper but I wasn't able to sleep on either side until at least a week out. Other than that, I laid on the couch propped up as well.
Hi Anna,
I slept in a recliner for about a week. I had two drains and I found the bed uncomfortable no matter how i tried to sleep, since they were on both sides. I don't know that I would by one, but since you live close you are free to borrow the one I have, we are just storing it in the basement until we get around to finishing it.
