Update on me...

I'm not on all that much, but the past week I REALLY haven't been on so I figured I'd better give an update.  A couple of you already know this off the board, but here is the scoop for the rest of ya!  I had gotten my first post baby period week before last and my band was tight as a drum from it, but I could still eat okay.  A week ago Friday I had gotten food stuck, but thought it was cleared out.  The pains I had started late Friday night and they were gall bladder type pains and came and went.  Stuck food is normally a CONSTANT pain until the food is cleared (if you've been stuck you know this).  I had burning like indigestion/reflux and the gall bladder type pain (the pain was on and off for a few hours at a stretch) all weekend until I barfed like when you have a stomach flu on Monday night .  My pouch hurt after I barfed, but all the gall bladder type pains stopped after that.  However, the reflux and acid didn't stop.  Wednesday I went into the band doc and they removed 1cc.  Monday I had scheduled a gall bladder u/s and still went through with it despite the change in symptoms.  The tech couldn't "legally" read the report, but she said that she saw nothing for concern (no stones, etc). MY theory is that my hormones from the period and from breastfeeding, etc effected my tightness and when I got stuck I REALLY got stuck and until I barfed it stayed stuck somehow.

Well, I had that 1cc removed on Wednesday and felt better during the day, but that night I started having heartburn again and  had stomach pain (only at night when I layed down) and acid plus some reflux Wednesday night and the same again Thursday night as well.  Thursday afternoon I decided to call and make another appointment to see the doc on Friday to have more fluid removed - NP told me to come back if I didn't get relief.  When I went we decided to empty my band.  Thankfully I feel NORMAL now.  No reflux, no pain, no heartburn and slept like a baby after a week of feeling like sh*t.  I feel great and actually STILL have restriction.  I have an upper GI this Wednesday to see if I have a slip from the vomiting episode last Monday night (It was middle of the night during a trip to the potty, it couldn't be avoided or stopped and the gall bladder symptoms stopped after the vomiting stopped).  So, that's all the news right now.  I hope I don't have a slip, but if I do, let it be minor enough for this unfill to correct it.  Ironically, my childhood friend is also banded and has had the same "gall bladder" symptoms, had the gb u/s, upper GI and they said she slipped.  She talks to the doc (same as mine) Monday about what they're going to do.  The NP told her that if she needs surgery to repair the slip that they will automatically revise her to the sleeve.  Hmmmm!

Other news, Dad's doing great with his treatments, but he is having a hard time accepting that he cannot do everything he wants to do (cleaning out gutters, mulching, cutting the lawn, etc) and he is having days where he is depressed, etc.  I told him he needs to get into a support group.  The girls are doing great.  Oh, and we had to have our sewer line replaced (yes AGAIN!).  Last year we were SCREWED apparently and nothing was replaced other than the clean out ($5,300 worth of work last year and for it to be done right THIS year - replacing the entire sewer line from terra cotta to PVC was $5,100).  This is a long story, but in short, we are taking this to the Attorney General's office and Roto Rooter has said that they will stand up for us in court!  Never a dull moment and ALWAYS something to stress me out!!!!

Heather - I sure hope whatever is wrong is just temporary and that it's not a slippage!  Good thoughts and prayers for you.

Glad to hear your Dad is responding to his treatments so well.  I lost my dad almost 9 years ago to cancer that we never had the chance to fight.  Treasure each and every day you can with him.  Sounds like he's meant to be here with you for a long while. :)

Hugs,
Angie
