Hey Angie!

If you're willing to travel to White Marsh/Perry Hall, (actually the corner of Belair & Joppa Roads), call Saverio's and ask for John, he's the owner/stylist.  410-256-7004.

He's amazing!!!  He helped me get through post-op hair, etc., and does my brother's and KB's, too.  He'll be able to tell you, based on how much you're willing to work with it, what type of hair style would be best for your hair type, etc.

I've also referred quite a few friends to him.

I most likely go that far... I hate to cut out of work early too often.  And coming down here on a weekend is just too much after driving all week most of the time :(

I wish there was someone that good in York!!!

My biggest post op hair problems are that it is soooo dry suddenly!  I went from oily to dry somehow... and weirdly enough (IMO) I have grey hair coming in!!!

Okay, I get it!!!  But believe me, knowing he awesome he is, I'd still drive!!!!

To help with the dryness, etc., associated with rapid weight loss, a lot of people will tell you to take Biotin, which didn't help me at all, or to use Nioxin, which is a line of $$ thinning hair shampoos.  When I was losing hair (not a lot, but enough) at post-op months 3-6, I used Pantene's Restoratives Line - they have a spray-in conditioner/strengthener that I used and loved.

Once the hair loss stopped, I switched back to the regular Pantene line, and use the moisture renewal formula (for dry hair).

Tia

Good Morning!

Sorry about the change in your Saturday plans.  My nephew has asked me to work with him as much as I can this weekend. So I am losing some of my flexibility too. Oh well, hopefully, we can salvage some personal time out of the 3 days. Glad to hear that your brother is responding to treatment. May it continue to improve. It is not a vanity thing. It is a feel good thing. Sometimes, you just feel your best and that is a tremendous mood lifter! Enjoy the day!

Well, I had an interesting experience last night. I learned that not everything comes back easy after weight loss - LOL! Although I was not officially dressed for this first attempt, I did try to ride a bike last night for the first time in about 30 years! it did not help that the bike was super fancy and fast. My balance was not 100%. I guess it is going to take a little practice. My nephew looked at me with a sympathetic tilt of his head and suggested I practice on the grass first - LOL! I am not giving up. But my fantasies about jumping on and riding off into the great unknown have been dashed - at least for now!

Today I am grateful for....

1 - Feeling productive at work. This week is flowing pretty well so far. I hope I did not just jinx myself! If things continue like this, I should be able to enjoy the weekend without this hanging over my head like a dark cloud!

2 - Being needed - Let me see if I can say this right. Although it is taking some of my precious time, it means so much that my nephew still needs me. As he has grown up, I have tried hard to stand back. I value that he likes to discuss things with me. I value that he feels I am one of the people he can rely on to help him practice for this college assessment test. it means so much that he continues to want to spend time with me. We are going to exercise together this weekend - something new for us. He gives back to me too. I am so blessed to have this special person in my life.

3 - For my family and friends.

4 - Pool classes tonight - woo-hoo!

Have a super day!

Awww, Deb!!!  Before long, you'll be zooming off on that bike!!!  I just want to hug your nephson - he sounds like such a special man!!!  I hope my relationship with KB evolves like yours has.

You know, for SOOOOOOO long, your 3 things have involved work - I'm glad to see that your weekend may be work-free!

Enjoy this beautiful day!  Continue yesterday's trend and get outside if you can!

Hugs,

T

Thanks Tia! And you do and will continue to have the special relationship with KB. I see the signs all over the place. The similarities in the experiences you relate about KB now, and those I recall when J was growing up are amazing.

As of right now, I AM planning on taking another 15 minute power walk before lunch again today. I enjoyed it so much yesterday!

Good Morning to all. I am feeling very sad and empty today. I got the dreaded call last night from my friends hubby. She has gone to be with God and the Angels. I am shocked that a knee replacement lead to this. When I took her to her last doctors appt. before surgery I wanted so badly to tell her don't do this now but she was in so much pain. I didn't want to stand in her way. Now I wish I had said what I felt.. What was I thinking... I should have told her the truth. I feel like eating all day till I cant eat anymore. I went to Shoppers and the DOUGHNUTS kept calling me. I ran past them fast as I could. I will try to stay up today but it will be so hard. I am going to go to Macy's to the Mac counter..... Today I am Thankful..

1) The last visit to the Hospital my friends nurse said she doesn't know what you are saying when you talk to her. I thought oh BS then I said to the nurse my friend and I talked everyday and we talked about losing weight and exercising. At that moment my friend shook her head as to say yes. I know in my heart she knew...
2) That I am very much alive and pushing on in her memory to have this surgery.
3) That I blew past the dough nuts this morning...
4) Thankful that I have a place to let my feelings out and know that they are safe...

Tia, Sorry about your weekend you will have others to come. You are needed.I am glad your Brother is getting better. I am all for looking good. Some days are better than others.
Lisa, Great for the exercise. I lover the Coffee to. DD is my fav..
Darla, I love bubble baths too they are so relaxing. I hope you get relief when you have your surgery.
Nessa, Love that Hanna what a smart gal.. So nice to save the $$ on the hair. That's always a nice thing. Have fun waxing..I like the maxi dress but feel to fat to wear one.
Debbie, Wonderful for the bike. I love to ride but at this point cant get on one. Hubby just got new Trek he rode 15 miles yesterday and did the gym for 2 hours.

Have a Great day all of you..
