i had my surgery at St agnes.  i was in the hospital for 2 days. went in at 5am on wednesday and got out friday evening. you might want to check with your insurance carrier. they have different about this type of surgery and hospital stays. i had rny, so that might have a longer recovery than a sleeve.

Topic: RE: Grocery List
The best advice I got for after surgery was WAIT to buy a bunch of stuff. Stock up for the week after surgery...which you will probably be doing liquids. Buy some chicken broth...I'm talking 2 or 3 cans because you'll be using the same can for a few days. lol Sugar free popsicles and jello...just one box. BELIEVE me you won't be able to get through much at first.

Get some samples of protein...NO BIG CASES. I still have 2 cases of protein RTD that I couldn't stand after surgery. If you buy too much...you WILL end up wasting a lot of money. Your tolerance for some things change after surgery as well. I bought these big cartons of egg beaters and I can't deal with eggs right now. I threw up from it. After the first few days you'll be able to go out to the grocery store (somebody should be with you) and buy more of what you need and like.

You can buy a lot of the small containers...you will definitely use a lot of those.

I don't have your insurance, however my insurance Kaiser also required a 6 month program  prior to approval.  Congratulation on making the decision to do WLS.  6 months may seem like a long time but it goes by really fast.  Good luck.

Hey Linda,

Ya know, I'm not sure how far the store is. It's honestly not that far at all. Maybe 2 miles? I'll measure it with a car and get back to you! I could have gone further, but it's not an easy ride. Lots of hill and I was afraid of cars. Not a lot of sidewalks. I think if it had been easier, I'd have gone further. I'd give it a try on a weekend maybe and see how you do first. I'm sure you can do it, but you want to be safe out there. Best of luck!

Congratulations! So exciting! My date was 5/6/10 and it's hard to believe that was almost a year ago and 118 pounds ago! You're gonna do great! Best of luck.
