Topic: Bariatric Surgery clothing exchange in Maryland

Hi everyone!

I just had GBP on Sept 3rd and I am already dropping! I am on freecycle and craigslist already looking to find smaller clothes but had a wonderful idea if I could get it going. I have kids and have been to clothing swaps for kids clothes where you bring your gentle used clothes sort them by sizes and other parents come through grab what they need and you grab what you need from other donors. I thought this might be a great idea for us Marylanders of bariatric surgery to do as well because buying clothes right now even from thrift stores seems like a waste. If anyone else is interested please message me. Hopefully we can get a group going and get it growing to help out other patients as well.

Dr. von Rueden is no longer at Saint Agnes.

For those of you that are/were his patient, will you try to find another bariatric surgeon to follow-up with?  If so, who?

I am with Kaiser and haven't yet checked with them to see what their recommendtions are.

Andy - this is from Medicare.gov.

Cosmetic surgery

How often is it covered?

Medicare doesn't cover cosmetic surgery unless it's needed because of accidental injury or to improve the function of a malformed body part. Medicare covers breast prostheses if you had a mastectomy because of breast cancer.

However, you could try calling 1-800-MEDICARE

If you are still looking for a gym buddy, there is a private gym in Laurel for women only. Let me know if you are interested.

HI! Congrats on your decision to join the gym.

I have the same problem, not wanting to workout with a bunch of onlookers as I wiggle and jiggle my way to a healthier me.  I go to a private gym called Private Hours. It is in Laurel, for women only on weekend evenings.

Basically, a lady rents the gym after they close for women who are shy.

If you are interested, I can give you more info.

Duodenal Switch Surgery.  I am still in the process of deciding which surgery.  I just have the concern of vitamin deficiency issues with Gastric bypass but I haven't ruled it out yet.

What is the DS? My Dr, in Washington DC, highly recommends the gastric bypass, RNY.  He says it is less risky and yields the best results.  I know there are so many weight loss surgeries and I'm sure many of successful.  I just listened to my dr and went with what he wanted to do.
