The good news is that Kaiser will take me back - first appt is June 2. I'm back in the saddle again. And I also discovered that Cigna has a 'continuation of care' provision that should make the transition easier - if I have to lose my Kasier in December...hope not, though! :)
I'm back back back in the US for almost two weeks, and then I hop back to Spain for a week, but then I think I might actuall be home for a while. Yay!
I hope you had a fantastic weekend - I sure did - I was in Paris (on my way home from Spain) and just wandered a bit, went up in the Tour Montparnesse, and strolled through the Musee d'Orsay. But then Saturday night I went to a great club and saw an awesome concert - two bands I love, one of which will likely never play in the US - and they totally kicked butt! It was a GREAT show!!!

I'm glad you posted your story. Good for you and I'm happy to hear you are in good hands and taking an in-depth interest in your own medical care. I think the good fortune in all of this is that we have them on our side. The rest is not luck...it's superior medical care. Thanks for posting! You should forward this link to Noel. She deserves the credit for sure!
I live in Laurel, MD and am looking for a support group.
Also, I have hit a major plateau and am looking for any support/advice, etc. anyone has. I haven't been on OH for a long time and am thinking if I check in daily like before, it will also keep me focused. I've lost 80 pounds in 2 years but really need to lose 80 more.
Thanks!

St. Agnes has a support group twice a month (1st and 3nd Mondays). Try calling the hospital where you are going to have your surgery and ask if they have a support group, or try other hospitals in your area.
I was looking for something a little closer to andrews air force base.
6 months of nutritional counseling is where the "6 months" comes from. But there will be other tests that will be ordered and have to be completed before your package is sent to the insurance for approval. The sooner you do these tests, the easier it is to deal with any delay.
I had a stress test that led to an echo that then led to a cardiac catheterization. This delayed my surgery by about 2 months itself. Having 3 blizzards in a row that year did not help the timeline either...so even the weather can affect your surgery date!!!
But I will tell you, by the time my surgery date arrived...I looked back and it seemed like time had flew by!!!
Keep on educating yourself. Learn as much as you can. Work on your mind just as much as you will be working on your body. Go to the support groups as much as possible.
Good luck to you and congrats on your journey! Before you know it, it will be surgery day. I am just about 1 year out now...these last two years seem like a quick blip to me now....it's gone by so fast.
It is in the Tate Center building at 305 Hospital Drive, 21061 at 7 pm
It's a great group...sometimes large, sometimes a few. Andrew and Robin or Mary are always there.
I try to go every single month...I always get so much out of it every time.
