Just starting
Hey guys! I am so glad I found this board! I just started school for medical office assistant and transcription is most of the course. I am now taking med term I, A&P, and Keyboarding.
The keyboarding is getting me cause my fingers go haywire and miss all the right keys....HAHAHA
So far the med term is easy.. u know the WR's and CF's.
So dont be suprised if I come on asking you pro's for help..LOL
I decided at 32 and after losing 92 pounds in almost 4 months that I needed to find a career. Before surgery at 313 lbs. I would have NEVER went anywhere much less to college! I feel so energized and not afraid of people or what they think of me now. It was kinda fun going and not feeling like the biggest girl in class.
The funny thing is they make us wear scrubs to class, 3 yrs ago when I was CNA I wore size 3X now I wear a XL top and L bottom! They made us try them on to make sure they fit and I was standing in the schools bathroom just crying my eyes out... LOL... I was getting funny looks needless to say. I had to explain why I was having such a fit and they were alll just shocked.
Anyway enough of my blabber..Take care all!
Lots of Love
Karin
Sounds like an exciting time in your life, Kim! Getting used to all the wonderful changes surgery brings, plus learning medical terminology and keyboarding must give you all sorts of -phorias and -algias (look them up up
. I can't wait to hear more about your progress with your weight and your MT'ing.

Hi Karin! Welcome to this board! I was fortunate to be trained on the job in a hospital when I was 19 which was 30 years ago (save you the math....I'm 49!). So many people were so patient and kind and helpful to me starting out, it is a pleasure to help others starting out. One of the things I tell people to help them build up their speed is to put a radio next to their computer at home and turn it to a news or talk radio channel and then just start typing as fast as they can. Build your speed up and then work on accuracy. Maybe for 10-15 minutes, type as fast as you can not worrying about errors, just go for speed. Then the next 10-15 minutes, slow down and go for accuracy. Then 10-15 minutes try speed and accuracy at the same time. It's a cheap way of getting used to keyboarding. Good luck with your training! And welcome to the board!
