How to get started?
Hi,
I was just wondering where you get trained to be a medical transcriptionist. Is this a 4-year college degree or can you take a few courses and get a certificate? I live in Pennsylvania and don't know if there are schools near me who offer this or if you can do this as a correspondence type course? Any advice for me? Thanks in advance, Kim
Hi Kim,
Yes, you can take a correspondence class in Medical Transcription. To be honest, it is NOT easy to get into....most places require you to have so many years experience. You really have to be determined and dedictated to make it work. Check out www.mtdaily.com. Also, a certificate from a school does not make you a certified MT..you have to take the test through AAMT to be considered certified. The certificate you get from a school is just a certificate of completion.
Good luck,
Teresa
