Hi Judi, Glad you made it home okay and that you are going well. I've been thinking about you. Sounds like you were in the same shape I was in......I had a gallbladder chalk full of stones...I mean it looked like a bag of marbles. So, I had a cholecystectomy, too...and also an umbilical hernia repair. Make sure you get plenty of rest, and not rush going back to work. Even transcribing is VERY taxing after this surgery. God bless, Teresa

Hi Kim, Yes, you can take a correspondence class in Medical Transcription. To be honest, it is NOT easy to get into....most places require you to have so many years experience. You really have to be determined and dedictated to make it work. Check out www.mtdaily.com. Also, a certificate from a school does not make you a certified MT..you have to take the test through AAMT to be considered certified. The certificate you get from a school is just a certificate of completion. Good luck, Teresa

Susan is out of surgery. They were very late starting due to an emergency Dr Hart had. I just talked to Susan's sister and she is out of surgery. They have not seen her yet, but Dr Hart sd all went well. I will post more tomorrow after I see her. Cathy

Hi everyone! Thanks so much for your prayers. I got home this afternoon. Had an open procedure with cholecystectomy. Turned out I had a duck-sized gallstone! (literally) I'm still really sore, but just wanted to check in. Thanks again for prayers. -Judi

Hi, I was just wondering where you get trained to be a medical transcriptionist. Is this a 4-year college degree or can you take a few courses and get a certificate? I live in Pennsylvania and don't know if there are schools near me who offer this or if you can do this as a correspondence type course? Any advice for me? Thanks in advance, Kim

Okay, fellow MTs, let's all wish Judi the best tomorrow for her surgery. She knows the Lord will be watching over her and guiding her surgeon's hands. Let's all say a prayer for her tomorrow. We will be thinking of you tomorrow, Judi. Teresa

Hi Dana! Welcome to the MT board, good to have you here. When I was a young girl, I used to live in a tiny Arizona town called Kearny (population 3,000 then). I used to take piano lessons at ASU in Tempe. We'd drive in to Tempe every Saturday. I can remember when Apache Junction, Mesa, Tempe, Scottsdale, and Phoenix were all completely and totally separate from each other. Now they're all fused to gether and then some! That is so cool that you were able to go into the same field that your mom was in. Well I hope you get your other friend who has had WLS to come onto our boards and share with us. Well, I've been naughty today. I have a ton of typing to finish so I can take off for my surgery on Tuesday, and I haven't been typing nearly as much as I should have during the day. So I guess I better get going...

Thanks, Teresa for the encouragement.....and for that neat recipe for ricotta and Splenda and almonds. I've ordered some things from bariatriceating already--mostly the powdered whey protein. I haven't tried any bars yet, but thanks for the recommendation of the Atkins Advantage bar, I'll keep that one in mind. I'll try out the ProPlete Gold vanilla too. My husband Charlie and daughter Samantha are going to be my angels. I'll have them post on this board after the surgery. As Tuesday gets closer, I find myself getting more and more emotional about every dumb thing that happens. My surgeon rxd some Valium and Sonata as he does for all of his preop patients just in case they get nervous or can't sleep in the days before surgery. I kind of laughed and thought well I won't be using those, but to tell you the truth I've already taken 2 of the Valiums over the last two days. That did seem to help. I sure hope we can keep this board active. I'm glad you gave it a thump to get it going! How's that Hannah doing? What's she been up to lately?
