Topic: RE: Looking for a career...
The CC route is by far the best bet as far as MT training. You will likely want to complete a mentorship/internship program after you graduate. I am hoping to have a mentoring program up and running by the end of the year. Please contact me if you do decide to go to school for MT. If I can't use, I can at least refer you to some legitimate companies and MT company owners that I have worked for personally. I have been in this field for over 20 years and I have lots of contacts.
Sincerely,
Deb Ellis
Topic: RE: any at home transcription in rockford, il?
Are you interested in working from home? Check out www.freedomtype.com. This lady used to have the Rockford Clinic account and she is hiring, but hiring for MTs to work from home.
Not sure how long you have been an MT, so please excuse me if this is insulting your intelligence. You do know that when you work from home, you can basically live anywhere, right? In other words, if you live in Rockford, you can work for a company anywhere in the USA...as everything is done via the internet.
I do know a guy that has a company (his name is Earl) that has some accounts in Rockford if that helps...and his gals all work from home.
Sincerely,
Deb Ellis
Topic: RE: Hi! New to this board:)
Hy Lynette,
I saw that you said you would like to pick up more work, do you currently work from home?
If you are looking to pick up more work and with all of your experience our site may be a good reference for you. Check out www.GoHelathJobs.com we are pretty new (went live as of 3/27/06) but we work with several hospitals and transcription companies both who hire in house and to work from home. Also we just added a chat room to our site so healthcare professionals can network and just chat about the industry.
Anyway if you interested take a look and chat or post your resume...whatever.
You can also email me @ [email protected] with any questions
Topic: RE: Medical Transcriptionist
Hi Stacy,
I know exactly what you mean it's very hard to find a job as an entry level transcriptionist.
I do have contacts at hospitals all over the country, where you may be able to get in as a paid intern...that could help get you experience.
Go to www.GoHealthJobs.com (my company) and post your resume once you do that email me and let me know it's posted and I can alert some of the employers and recruiters that I work with of it's searchability and your issues you have had getting hired
My email is [email protected]

Topic: Medical coders or billing specialists here?
Hi, I am wondering if there are any bill coders here as well. I did not see it on the intrests list and couldn't enter in my own subject.
I kicked around wether to study medical transcription or bill coding and coding won. I am only 3 months into my course and really liking it so far.
Medical transcription is a great profession too. I was wondering if any of you have any tips on improving typing speed. I am only about 43wpm. In the job ads up here they are looking for at least 60wpm preferred 80. I had no idea a person could type that fast. How do you do it??
Topic: RE: Looking into Medical Transcription
Good luck to the both of you I graduated with a certification in 2004 from my local college in ******* Ga and still am unable to find work. No one will hire you unless you have at less 1 to 2 years experience and the only way to do that is to have medical experience to work in a doctors office as a transcriptionist. So good luck.
Topic: Medical Transcriptionist
Just a warning for all you out there that think it will be easy to work from home once you get certified. I graduated in 2004 and still trying to find work. No one will hire you unless you have 1 to 2 years experience. I am finding out that the only way to get experience is to work for a doctors office (good luck in finding one)that does not have a transcriptionist and will hire you fresh out of school. I have tried everything to get hired. Also there are some companies out there that will hire without experience be careful some are scamming you. Stacy
