Panniculectomy Before Pictures
Hi Guys,
Well, in a couple of days another milestone will be reached in my transformation for a leaner and meaner body. On Nov. 1, 2006 I'll be having a Panniculectomy at Kaiser Permanente WLA. I have posted some before pictures (if you are offended by underwear don't look!). The doctor will be performing a anchor cut to remove as much excess skin as possible.
So far I've lost 180 lbs. and went from a 50 waist to a 28. I will probably be a 26 after surgery, but who knows. Will post new pictures as soon as they become available, probably some shortly after surgery. That's all for now. Take care and God bless.
Holy crap! I thought I "waisted" away when I went from a 42 to a 32 waist, but going to a 28 is amazing! Tell me it was a typo and you meant 38! After surger weight loss I fit fine in a 32. But now I can still wear a 32, but am more comfortable in a 34. Still, I never was that small in high school. My advise is don't buy a bunch of clothes until you settle in to your new normal weight. I have a feeling you will fill back out a little. I bought some medium shirts and 32 pants after I finished dropping my weight. I looked really gaunt. Now I have filled back out a little in my face especially. Haven't gained any weight back, but have filled in the gauntness with a more healthy look. Some of the before and after pics I have seen have the before pics showing a healthy look , maybe overweight but healthy looking. Afterwards they look like hell warmed over or like some cancer patient to be honest. I think some fat pockets fill back in after awhile, especially in the face and it gives them that normal look again.
Hi Jerry,
No it is not a typo, it is a 28! However, I am not buying anything that size yet for obvious reasons. My weight however, has been stable for over a year now and I think that it is sustainable at this point of the game. I can tell you that my size shirt, depending upon the cut, could be small (most likely) or a medium, but loose. It is hard to find clothes that fit (like I am complaining) especially dress shirts 15 will fit nicely around my neck, but the rest looks to big on me.
I do however, had a problem with my surgery. I have a partial blockage (from scar tissue) which causes problems with food intake and getting full very quickly. The options to resolve the problem were not to my liking (redoing part of the RNY
and open instead of lamparoscopically) and extremely risky. So I am stuck basically at soft stage permanently, but once in while and if I am carefull I will venture with more solid food (as long as their texture is soft).
Thanks for the encouragement and God bless.
Guillermo

Hey G-
I'm amazed.....I have an appt with a PS in a week or 2...but my hanging skin is full on the inside.....like a dripping water balloon...the docs say that I won't be able to loose that...so chop chop chop....
I started at a 56" waist, and now am in a 32"....I've lost 200# as of today.....You are skinny...not trim, not lean...skinny.....I bet you never get tired of hearing that
Go for it.....
Russ

No I don't, but when my family sees me they always tell I should gain a little weight, but ain't paying attention. I like the way I look and after the panniculectomy it would be even better. I am tired of looking at the prune I ended up having for a belly. You are right, I have barely any fat deposits in my hanging skin, it is just excess skin w/o fat or not much of it. The doctor did tell me that it was a lot of hanging skin and that he would do his best to remove as much of it as possible.
Thanks for responding,
Guillermo
Guillermo,
Thanks for putting the photos out there!
I had my PS in July, and even though I wasn't looking forward to mine,
It was the Best Thing Ever!!!!!
Have the Greatest on the 1st!
If your PS Doc is like mine and most I've heard of,
They really go out of their way to keep pain at a minimum.
My doc gave me 3 different types of pain meds-
Lower strength for mild pain, medium(Kick But) for serious pain,
And some stuff that was like encapsulated love of heaven!!
For those really painful moments.
I had no pain at all!!
Keep the house sterile and free of germs anywhere at all.
Get on home and start enjoying the new body!!
Best Wishes-
Dx
Thank you and I am really looking forward to the surgery (not the pain). I did have the house cleaned up and will be moving some furniture around (before the surgery of course) so I can have it where I could at leas****ch T.V., sleep and move around without having to use the stairs. I will be having some assistance with the household chores and the kids as my wife has a demanding schedule/job. So, I am preparing myself as much as I can beforehand.
Thank DX and God bless.

Hi Guillermo,
Those are some good pictures, especially of the family. Nice kids! Your "Bambino" is a real cutie.
Please keep up posted on your panniculectomy. I noticed you had your surgery a couple of weeks before me and I'm starting to think about reconstructive surgery too. I'm not as thin as you are, but have developed a lot of loose skin.
There was a plastic surgeon at the conference in Lexington who showed a lot of photos of various procedures, mostly on women. I'm interested in knowing more about how it works for guys, so please update us with your progress.
Best wishes for uneventful surgery this week. Prayers are with you!
Joe
You are right most of the pictures I've seen are from women having the procedure, but not enough from men. I'll be having an anchor cut which the doctor indicated will remove the maximum amount of skin. I have a lot of hanging skin that would like to get rid off.
I will keep you guys updated. I am planning to take pictures shortly after the surgery.
Take care, good luck and God bless.
Guillermo
We had a PS come to our support group last month and his advice was "the longer the cut, the better the result" He does what he calls a "power lift". Basically it goes ALL THE WAY AROUND the body. He is then able to tighten up the legs, middle and chest in one operation. He pulls up the bottom and down the top, cuts out the extra from the middle and moves things such as nipples and belly button to their proper places again. The results were AMAZING He had photos of men that were done and I can say that if I need to have PS, this is the way I want to go! It is something to ask about when you are talking to the surgeon.
