My band slipped

Going for surgery Monday  - too much stomach above the band.  He'll try to adjust it and if not;  take it out.  Also may have the option of getting a new one if he does take it off and things are ok. I love the weight loss and I love my band.  I hate this happened but thankful I have an opportunity to recover.   Throwing up black sh#it@ is scary as hell.        Keep my spot on the bench.

Bummer about the extra surgery, hopefully one of the one-stage options works out (reposition, or immediate new band).  You've done awesome so far, I'm sure you'll push through regardless of what the surgeon has to do.

Wow, sorry to hear that, but very fortunate as well, since the band can be removed/replaced. Too bad you may need a surgical procedure...thats never fun. Now you got me thinking about MY band...lol.  Well, either way, I sure hope what ever procedure is done that you recover successfully.  Good Luck!!!

Thanks man .. my advice to you is FOLLOW THE RULES & WATCH THE QUANTITY  I don't know that one particular thing caused it, accumulation of things or I just drew the short straw. I WILL pay more attention to quantity and measuring though!   And I found out my insurance covers lap-band now (i was self-pay) - if I'd have waited another year - another short straw.    Today, I went on high stress on wtf is this going to cost and how are we going to pay for it.   Talked with the insurance/surgeon office and not stressing bout that anymore.      Off to sip my liquids.  Good luck to you and follow those guidelines.

I sympathize somewhat with you missing out on insurance coverage.  But a full year of your life (not even accounting for life extension benefits) not obese - well, not completely the short straw on that front, anyway. I was wondering about you being self-pay from an ongoing-care perspective, thinking, "Hmm, perhaps this guy better really hope they can do this quick and easy with the old band, from a financial perspective alone."  I am glad to hear that they might pay most of the follow-up procedures.

Just wondering, was your band stitched into place? I know mine was but I think they only started stitching them in place not too long ago.

Thanks guys.  By the way, my surgeon is fantastic from the beginning.  He did stitch the band the "new way" back in 4/06.  I'll bring my Gorilla glue on Monday.  Or duct tape. Yup, I have changed my life  -  losing almost 100 pounds, fitting in airplane seats, fitting in a booth at restaurant, theaters, auditoriums, can tie my shoes, walk Las Vegas/Phildadelphia and NYC, no bp/chol rx  - lots of FARTS that have really enhanced my life and couldn't do before last year.     ok, pityparty is over - i'm up from wallowing in why did this happen to me - I just never thought I'd be one of the % complications.
