So we've been planning last night dinner for a while.  We have an all u can eat place here near us in MD and so a bunch of us went ant had all u can eat oysters, raw, steamed, and fried.  I didn't eat the most but had about 12 dozen or 155 individual oysters.  My dad and father-in-law ate about 3-4 dozen more than I did. But once again at the end of the meal I ate till I was stuffed.  That is my problem with every meal.  I eat till Im really full.  Now las night was an exception because I went to the resturaunt knowing that I would be putting the feed bag on and gettin full.  But afterwards I was depressed because this is my problem I eat till Im full almost every meal. Thus the sleeve.  I am hoping that by having the sleeve I will only be able to eat 2 or 3 oysters at the begining (instead of 155) and feel full. Then I will stop and start losing the weight.   The whole idea of having the surgury and then eating too much would make me vomit or dump, sounds awesome to me.  Is that weird? I really want to have that consequence to eating too much because I know it will control me. Is that weird?

Not really, no.  The WLS is kind of an negative reinforcement device, if you will.  For example, say you want a giant cheeseburger.  WLS doesn't make you say no, You have to say no.  Sure, one of the factors in our decision will probably be the WLS consequences of eating it, but it's not stopping you.  Your head is!  That's how I see it anyway.

Well you aren't gonna dump on the sleeve and trust me dumping isn't pleasureable by any means and it's something that every RNY post-op wants to avoid.   I've had everything from mild crappy feelings to twisted bowels caused by eating the wrong **** and 'uncomfortable' as my doc described it is putting it mildly.  The twisted bowel was some of the most excruciating pain I've ever experienced.  I wanted to fracking die it was so bad.

The sleeve is gonna restrict what you can eat though.   From what I've heard by talking to sleeve post-ops they get to a certain point (just like us RNY guys) and they can't eat anymore without the food coming back up.   Not dumping but it's still gonna prevent you from pigging out.

Bu tthat is what I want.  I want my body to tell me to stop and if I don't then I vomit. Is this weird for me to want that?

Nah.   Some consider dumping a downside of RNY but I consider it a perk.   Dumping is the consequence I pay for eating the wrong ****   And pay I do.  :)  It sucks monkey ballz!

It isn't weird at all, I was really anxious to get the sleeve to stop me from stuffing my face.

I really like the sleeve but I still have to think everyday and making sure I'm taking the right food choices (you have to fight old demons once in a while).

If you want to eat fatty stuff or sweet stuff, the little pouch won't mind... as long as you don't eat too much. This is both a positive and negative aspect of the sleeve since you can eat whatever you want but not feeling sick or dump. You will only feel sick and have foamies if you eat too much or eat fast.

The mental will have to play an important role in your success. I'm always doing the protein first approach since I'm getting full quickly. No cake, no bread, no pasta... Its almost funny how its now an excuse for me when I don't want to eat desserts or other "none-healthy" food someone will offer me (sorry, the little guy won't let me have it!).

I hope you will enjoy the sleeve as much as I do.
Good luck!

Dany.
